Workshop «Start your novel» in Portal del Escritor

There are many of us who besides reading we love to write, having even thought of finishing that novel one day that we started one rainy afternoon but never finished (there are also those who already have it published, congratulations!). If you are one of the first but think that you still need a little training to be able to finish it as you would like or to start a new one from scratch, perhaps this course will be useful for you.

This is the workshop «Start your novel» in Portal del Writer. I briefly summarize his description of the course and it is up to you to decide whether to sign up or not.

Diana P. Morales, the teacher who teaches it, has an experience of more than 15 years, you will have support from theoretical materials and readings and virtual talks will be held both with the teacher and with the other classmates enrolled in the course.

At the end of this intensive course they ensure that you will have outlined the complete plot of your novel and written the first chapter of your novel.

Programming of the course

First fortnight:

• What is a novel. Theme and plot. What is our novel going to tell? The compass of our history. Novel idea triggers.

 Second fortnight:

• Building the map of our novel (I). Types of stories. The approach and the turning point. How to design the plot of the novel. What is going to happen in our history and why.

Third fortnight:

• The narrator and his voice. Narrator and point of view. Character and narrator, who tells the story and why? Starting our novel.

Each week a writing task will be proposed that will always consist of writing and advancing your own novel. This exercise will receive a critical comment from the course teacher and your classmates in the virtual classroom of the course.
