Tips for self-publishing your book

Steps to self-publish your book

5. The next step will be request a quote for print on demand. In addition to the number of copies you request, they will add five more to make the legal deposit to which printing companies are required. One tip is that you do not stay with the first quote they offer you: search and compare, there are all prices. Another tip in this step is to start with a realistic print run. If you are new to this and do not think you can sell many, it is better to take out every little bit than to make a large print run and keep a large part of those copies at home.
6. Calculate the retail price: With this you must calculate what it costs you to print the books, transport them, possible distribution costs, etc ... It also has those 5 copies that they do charge you but that you do not sell because they are the ones that keep the deposit legal.
7. Get the ISBN: Now that you have your book printed and its price, you must go find the ISBN of your book. Without this it cannot be marketed.
8. Make the back cover: Once they give you the ISBN along with the barcode of your book, you can modify the back cover of it including the bar-code that they have provided you. As with the case of the back cover, you can do it yourself or find someone who is fought in graphic design and wants to help you with it.
9. Once you have the budget that convinces you, the confirmed RRP, the complete design and the ISBN, you can request the printing of your copies. This must be in PDF format. It would be nice if you could request a print test to make sure everything is correct.
10. Promote your book: This is the most difficult step of all as it involves a lot of field work. Use the usual, word of mouth, have your family tell their acquaintances, tell your friends, post it on your facebook wall and do not be shy when requesting diffusion, make a twitter with a clear commercial objective of it and always stick to it, pass it through the nearest bookstores, and you can even make a blog or a website promoting your novel.

If getting certain publishers to notice your novel is a difficult job, self-publishing is somewhat easier but it also involves knowing the subject in depth and working on it with patience and determination.
