The subject of Universal Literature of the Baccalaureate is eliminated

Without getting into political opinions, we will leave that to the Blogs y websites that have politics as the central theme of their content, we come to give you the news, sad news, that the current government has been in charge of giving scissor again when it comes to culture, eliminating the subject of Universal Literature of the Baccalaureate. How? We will explain it to you below. Why? It is neither known nor understood.

Culture is not touched

Do you know that feeling when you have a lot to say but anger prevents you from ordering the words correctly? Well that happens to me right now! To say that I am outraged is not enough, but hey, it is nothing more than an opinion from one more writer who is dedicated to writing articles on literature. However, I think I am not the only one, who thinks that culture should not be touched, or at least, not so lightly ...

It already happened at the time with the subjects of music o philosophy... According to many, they are dispensable subjects, of which we can pass, and that if we do not touch them, then nothing happens, right? Well no! Yes it happens ... It has been scientifically proven that music improves vocabulary, helps us to concentrate on a task, enhances our cognitive development and even helps improve circulation, among many other benefits, of course ...

And philosophy, why give it? But, if it only helps us think better…! Definitely, those of us who claim that culture is not touched, we have gone crazy ...

And now they attack the universal literature. It is true that literature may like more or less, but do you really have to explain each and every one of the benefits of reading? Do we really have to explain why we have to read Oscar Wilde, Dante Aligheri, Cortázar, Benedetti, Auster, Bécquer, Owell…? Do we really have to explain why we should promote in young people the taste for reading and literature in general? I dont give credit!

It seems that we have forgotten that having more or less studies does not mean having more or less culture ... From schools and institutes, children with studies do come out, but do they really leave children with a minimum of culture? Already said Unamuno: "The supreme interest must be to raise the level of general culture and awaken a taste for things that dignify and refine the spirit".

That said, it only remains to thank the Spanish government, for not wanting to awaken the taste for universal literature ... DEP.

Big mistake: reading in young minds helps to consolidate the synaptic process and prepares it for more complex situations; choosing good titles aimed at the new generation educates and entertains them at the same time.

In conclusion, a great loss of the heritage (in the future) of Spanish society.

  2.   Alberto Fernandez Diaz said

    Hi carmen.

He already knew the news. You are absolutely right, but… what can be expected of a Prime Minister who, as Pérez-Reverte has said, is never seen in a cultural event?

    It is an absolute shame.

Is anyone still so naive as to think that power is interested in having educated citizens who know how to think for themselves, that is, with their own criteria? We already know that throughout history the opposite has been practiced: to satisfy the masses and distract them so that they do not create problems. The Roman emperors, with their famous "bread and circuses," did it very well. Today we could change that expression to "football and Tele 5".

It seems that at present only technology and money matter, that is, the material. As if the soul did not need to feed itself with music, painting, books, etc. Sadly, there are many sheep to whom if you explained all this, they would call you a geek or they would look at you strangely or they would laugh in your face despising your words and arguments.

I did not know Unamuno's phrase, but I agree with him.

On the other hand, there are university students (it gives me the feeling that quite a few, I don't know) who, despite having a degree, a master's degree and other things, do not read a single book to you throughout the year.

Can you believe that this week I read in the most important newspaper in Asturias that they want students to pass ESO with an average grade of less than 5 and with two failures (as long as it does not coincide that they are Language and Literature and Mathematics)? It seems like a big mistake to me.

Anyway, that's how it goes as a society. More and more "illiterate" technologized to the bar.

A hug from Oviedo and happy weekend.

Hello Alberto, I agree with your words and feelings. Greetings to the green Asturian lands.

        Hi Angela.

Thank you. By the way, where are you from?

        A greeting.

The current educational model has an instrumental, apolitical, uncritical and exclusive vision of the town's student population, it is a quality model for the business elites of monistic and profit-making and exploitative and surrendering thinking in the foreign market of the Mexican economy ... dictatorship of the market and neo-liberalism par excellence ...

With the amount of universal authors out there to read. But culture is not in fashion

  5.   costuno@gmail.com said

Well ... perhaps the most appropriate thing would be to talk about politics and politicians. Educational reforms are made by politicians. You put the accent on Music, Literature and Philosophy, but it goes without saying that it has the devastating effect on Plastic or Technology. Nor do I want to remember that Religion has academic value and begins to compete directly with Information and Communication Technologies.

Is universal literature not worth it? Maybe chemistry with lies from its periodic table either. I did not want to mess with when each element was invented but thanks to universal literature I was able to discover that calcium was already in the parthenom.

  9.   Greek said

What good is chemistry without the universal literature? When calcium was invented? Pharmaceutical companies want chemicals? When they invented the elements of the periodic table? If they were already using it in partenom

Minister of culture = ignorance? That one knows less than I do. I don't even know how to write

It's sad, but the world as it goes, needs men and women like herds.
Reading good literature and authors make people more sensitive, spiritual, free and cultured.
And that is not good for the new societies, in which others are waiting to be able to dominate them.
Spain, like so many other countries, is in decline. And may it be there, where the letters have shone, that the power is cut off ...

  13.   Ayioma said

Hello Lorenzo! The music is still alive? Well, we will educate them with free art. Let's destroy this rabble who studied political science and teach them what politics is for art.

  14.   allioma said

Correct my text because of my lack of knowledge. First: we will ask the minister of education and culture what art is for him. Second: what is politics. Third if politics is an ancient art xk do not exercise it as such. Fourth: what He knows the one about universal literature fifth: he understood that he was asked sixth xk he does not

Without going into evaluations of the LOMCE, which I do not like at all, as I did not like Logses, LOES and others, the successive reforms have been eliminating the humanities and cutting back on the sciences for many years. But this is not true, universal literature went from 2nd to 1st, it continues with four hours and, in my experience, from years developing schedules, now it is much easier to teach in small centers, before it was totally impossible.

Latin has been loaded for many years, what less than a mandatory year, this was due to the PSOE of Felipe González, with Minister Maravall at the head, Greek is since then almost impossible to study, the Zapatero government, yes I don't remember badly, Spanish literature was loaded, before a subject, today an appendix of the Spanish language subject and now the PP government, with the Lomce, has fumigated philosophy.

This is a brief summary, the damage is much greater, but, no, universal literature continues, fortunately, with the same hours and, of course, in Galicia, with much more possibilities of being chosen. It is not necessary to lie to demonstrate the attack that the humanities have been suffering for a few years.

I will talk about the number of seats that make the decisions in Spain. First, I will enter into the lack of all the parliamentary debates on a television channel, whether or not they have citizen interest. Can I mention the repetition of seats that gave the yes to such a great project as increasing the working age to 67. Will you remove the visual arts? They have already taken them away? Thank you Minister for so much clarity to the people. I would like to know the names of such a contract, to know what I sign and when, especially because I sign that and that I win in exchange or the benefit of the other signing party. Art?

  22.   what I said said

Will we see contemporary artists? We will be able to feel, think and get involved with other universal stages. Does this or that matter more, who decides if interest is more important or what interests? What interests those seats where the future of people is decided? To be or not to be? Too bad Or money, what do you prefer? It hurts x money or money x magic art? Well x my little logos of life I would say that the x factor is your interest and not everyone's

  23.   Mother said

Surely these people who decide then buy a painting and tell their friends. You don't know how much money it costs. It's a ... haiuma

Has anyone bothered to read the LOMCE High School Decree? The Universal Literature has not disappeared, it has passed to 1º of Baccalaureate for two years. It has run out of Selectivity, of course (it was not even mandatory). And not only that, but there are also more students enrolled in 1st grade than when it was offered in 2nd grade - due to dropouts, failures and other causes-. And let us not forget that it is not present in all institutes, quite the contrary. It is one thing for it to be offered, and another for the students to choose it.

  25.   .l. for them said

Thanks Emma ! Because I was going to tell you what art is for me. For me the art is shitting on the minister of education for having 30 children in class with so many teachers unemployed. I am not referring to this minister, I mean all his friends who sacked Spain with a lot of ART and the sentence was to laugh at everyone. Well, because of the art that I have, I would like to ask you in court what do you think if I steal your savings and then I laugh in your face. With this omega I say goodbye

As a student I would like to comment on various aspects that I see distorted in all this.

Is it really culture if it is to be forced in such a way? Let me explain: Do you really think that studying literature for 9 months is going to produce any significant change? I personally like to read, I like to challenge myself, but I don't like to be "forced to read." Because I lose the magic, and I lose the will.

What do you think is the subject of literature? Leaving aside the supposed "politicization", do you have something fresh to add? Because if not, I've already heard it all. They are destroying the culture, they are manipulating the youth ... Let us put aside political prejudices for a moment, that is what literature is worth, to open our eyes, get away and gain perspective.

We are in high school, and let's face it, jobs, as well as society, are becoming too specialized. We are not all gifted enough to focus on our future and have time to acquire general knowledge. I would like to think that later on I will have time to read at ease, to escape from everything that torments me. But I fear that it is not so. Who here does not have time problems? Well, remember for a moment your years of study. Frantic, right?

In short, I support the TOTAL ELIMINATION of Universal Literature in high school, because in fact, it has not been eliminated, it has been moved to first, without validity in selectivity. Many young people stop reading precisely because of the pressure that this subject produces on them. Many people like me fail to love literature ... reality surpasses us, and we will not allow you to express your opinion in this very subjective and extremist way our future theorist with the excuse of proliferating something that we have no real obligation to know.

We are all our customs, and culture evolves with us. If people no longer read as much as they used to, it is because reality does not give up. And we should know by now, it is the absence of truce that makes artists. Example, the Golden Age.

The subjects that do nothing x society should be eliminated? Could you comment how many there are and their names for you?

  28.   Jesus Hernandez Hernandez said

Without "wanting to go into politics" THE TRUTH IS THAT IF YOU ENTER AND KNOW IT ... What he says is a lie, the subject of Universal Literature is not eliminated, but is no longer optional in 2nd year of Baccalaureate and passes to 1st.

This year I started high school and I was going with all the illusion, enrollment in hand, selected the subject of Universal Literature. When I arrive it turns out that they force me to take History of the Contemporary World, because in that institute there are none. I do not understand why some are allowed and others are not ... If next year I change and take it, how will I do in the selectivity with only one year of the subject? This system drives me crazy
