The Parthenon in Athens built with 100.000 forbidden books

Marta Minujin, an Argentine artist, is the "cause" that in the city of Kassel, in Germany, a new one has risen Parthenon of Athens built with 100.000 forbidden books… Almost nothing! It is a whole work that represents that the written word persists forever, despite the fact that many have tried to make them disappear. In addition, and as another point in favor of Mara Minujín, it is a work of solidarity because once the entire assembly has been uninstalled, these books will be transferred to immigrant and refugee communities, in addition to being distributed by public libraries, so that everyone has free and free access to them, something that our predecessors did not have in certain historical periods.

It is an impressive work, which in addition to being illuminated, represents even more the strength and power of books, of each of the words and phrases that are written in them. Another very important point of this Parthenon of Athens of books, is that it is exposed in the German square, where the Nazis burned countless books in 1933. So that the different climatic situations and the weather do not deteriorate them, these books are wrapped quite well with plastic and with them begins the framework of Documenta 14, the important quinquennial contemporary art exhibition that opened this past Saturday, July 8 in Kassel, Germany.

In the words of the project itself, the Parthenon of Athens made by books, "It is a tribute to democracy, a symbol of resistance to political repression and is an ephemeral work, since at the end of the exhibition in Kassel the books will be donated to migrant shelters and public libraries throughout Europe."

From Actualidad LiteraturaWe admire and praise this type of artistic works that not only represent the beauty of great man-made constructions but also do not forget injustices, no matter how long they last. !! Congratulations!!

The written word is history and as such it must be respected, it is part of our human culture, and we have the right to know it, either to repudiate it or to exalt it, but it well deserves our opinion, because the right to know is a condition that we have always had. denied the different occupants of power in any part of the planet, depriving us of the right to SAVER and know what others thought, because in a world, not all of us think the same, we have different points of view and knowing the thinking of others, although not let us share it, it enriches us, it makes us part of its history, its experiences, hardships and failures, the joy of a story, or the perfume of a flower beautifully related by an artist writer, and those who with their magic show us that there is another point of view of things as we know them. guillermo seijo.
