More writers and authors from a place in La Mancha called La Solana

Some days ago did a tribute and opened a window to the world to some authors and writers from my town, The Solana, among which included me by debut as a novelist. And of course, it is inevitable to leave names that I want to continue recovering. Today are these three: two poets and a historian and journalist. But I will also mention more solaneros authors of the verse and the theatrical scene. Please, take a look at us. Who knows the literary treasures that are yet to be discovered.

silfra - David Policarpo Ruiz Santa Quiteria

This young poet 29-year-old has just joined the growing group of solaneros who write and publish. This is his first work presented a few weeks ago, a poems that he has managed to edit thanks to a successful patronage campaign.

silfra is a very free poetic story, written one morning in front of the computer and born from the inspiration of a message from the author's sister where she told her about Silfra, a place in Iceland. He did research on the web, saw a photo and was captivated by her story. He let himself be carried away and everything came out spontaneously, so this collection of poems, as the author says, "is more to feel it than to understand it." The book can be found in paper and digital format.

La Solana and the sickles - Aurelio Maroto

The journalist Aurelio Maroto is one of the best known names of the solanero cultural scene and he is also the son, grandson and nephew of authentic blacksmiths of sickles, one of the identity marks of La Solana. The making of sickles It was for more than two centuries our greatest and best livelihood and it also made us the largest national producer of this tool. So who better than Aurelio to tell his story as a tribute to his blood and that of all blacksmiths solaneros
This work was published in 2014. and it was a two-year job that was structured in 16 chapters and more than 230 pages. The scarce bibliography found on the subject was compensated by numerous interviews with retired blacksmiths and manufacturers.

From this shore - Francis Alhambra

Francis Alhambra is possibly the best known and recognized singer-songwriter of La Solana but, above all, he is a magnificent poet who also provides the most appropriate music and voice for his verses. Group member Wheat bread Since 1991, the one with the most tradition and local and regional fame, he has spent his whole life with a guitar in his hands and interpreting the world with his music and his words.

Went to from the nineties when he begins to develop in a more important way his facet as singer-songwriter. They were solo performances added to collaborations with other authors and artists (poets, singers and various cultural and social associations of the province). He also participates in regional festivals and concerts.

He had already published poems in the 1996 book Clear night verses, volume of the Espiga collection edited by Pan de Trigo, as well as in the quarterly magazine of this literary group. But it is in 1997 when did you decide to publish this own book of poems, From this shore.

More names

Because there are still many that remain, almost all of more poets that make up Pan de Trigo as Rosa Marín, Juan José Torrijos or María José Pacheco, Ramona Romero de Ávila or Domingo Fernández.

And I can not leave perhaps the most recognized historian and official chronicler of the Villa de La Solana (with permission from his successor and recently retired Paulino Sánchez). Don Antonio Romero Velasco, whom I still remember clearly because he was a great friend of my grandfather and, also, that great historian with several books published as History of La Solana o Historical relationship on the appearance, worship, veneration and transfer of the Blessed Virgin of Peñarroya, to cite just a couple of titles.

And last but not least, I refer to another article published this spring about my friend, director, actress and playwright Mari Carmen Rodriguez-Rabadan. And it is that this past Sunday (re) premiered his latest work of his own, Room 204, surgery, which I have also been lucky to have corrected and, therefore, to enjoy and laugh before anyone else with a traditional comedy, full of humor and surrealism that delighted the public.
