Literary texts that inspire

literary-texts-that-inspire

I never considered myself a creative person, although those who know me well say that I am, and a lot… What I do not doubt at all is that I seek inspiration at any time and under any situation. What inspires me?

  • Rainy afternoons in autumn.
  • A very hot and steaming cocoa served in a cup.
  • A line of well-planted cypress trees on a sidewalk (and not cut to the top, please).
  • An old image.
  • A video well mounted and edited by some 'youtubers' that I follow.
  • Some texts by Haruki Murakami.
  • A good movie that makes you think.
  • A song that reminds you of someone.
  • My study room neatly arranged by the light of my salt lamp and some candles.
  • A brand new and neat notepad.
  • Sad moments, moments to enjoy solitude, a solo coffee in a cafeteria, bus and train stations, a plane flying over the sky, certain quotes and phrases from artists and / or other historical figures ... Etc ...

And what inspires you? What do you do when you need inspiration to write and create your texts?

Next, in order to help you, I bring you certain literary texts that I personally find very inspiring.

Looking for inspiration among books ...

  • «… I say that we are evil and we cannot help it. What are the rules of this game. That our superior intelligence makes our evil more excellent and tempting ... Man was born a predator, like most animals. It is your irresistible urge. Going back to science, its stable property. But unlike the rest of the animals, our complex intelligence pushes us to prey on goods, luxuries, women, men, pleasures, honors ... That impulse fills us with envy, frustration and resentment. It makes us even more what we are ». (From the book "The painter of battles" de Arturo Perez Reverte).
  • «There is nothing in the world, neither man nor devil nor anything, that is so suspicious to me as love, because it penetrates the soul more than anything else. There is nothing that occupies and ties more to the heart than love. For this reason, when it does not have weapons to govern itself, the soul sinks, for love, into the deepest of ruins. (From the book "The name of the rose" de Umberto Eco).
  • There is no happiness or unhappiness in this world; there is only comparison of one state with another. Only a man who has felt the utmost despair is capable of the utmost happiness. It is necessary to have wanted to die to know how good it is to live. (From the book "The Count of Monte Cristo" de Alexandre Dumas).
  • "Not all that is gold glitters, nor are all wandering people lost." (From the book "The Lord of the rings" de J.R.R. Tolkien).
  • "I can't go back in time because I was a different person then." (From the book "Alice in Wonderland" de Lewis Carroll).
  • "Older people can never understand something on their own and it is very boring for children to have to explain them over and over again." (From the book "The little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupèry).
  • «They wanted to speak, but could not; There were tears in their eyes. They were both pale and thin; but those pale faces were illuminated with the dawn of a new future. (From the book "Crime and Punishment" de Fyodor Dostoyevsky).
  • "What is life? A frenzy.
    What is life? An illusion, a shadow, a fiction;
    y el mayor bien es pequeño;
    That all life is a dream
    and dreams are dreams ». (From the book "The life is dream" de Calderon de la Barca).
  • Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Pick a big TV that you shit. Choose washers, cars, CD players, and electric can openers. Choose health: low cholesterol and dental insurance, choose to pay fixed interest mortgages, choose a show flat, choose your friends. Choose sportswear and matching suitcases. Choose to pay in installments for a branded suit in a wide range of fucking fabrics. Go DIY and ask yourself who the hell are you on Sunday mornings. Choose to sit on the fucking couch and watch mind-dulling and spirit-crushing telecontests as you fill your mouth with fucking junk food. Choose to rot old by shitting and pissing all over yourself in a miserable asylum, being a burden to the selfish and wrecked little kids you've spawned or replaced you. Choose your future. Choose life.But why would he want to do something like that? I chose not to choose life.

    I chose something else, and the reasons… There are no reasons. Who needs reason when you have heroin?". (From the book «trainspoting » de Irvine Welsh).
