Divergent is a teen story written by Veronica Roth, the No. 1 bestselling author according to the New York Times. Its plot is oriented towards what is the self-discovery that human beings live, to know what our talents are, a process that almost always begins during the existential crises of adolescence. This novel is quite futuristic in tone, set in the city of Chicago, it was created thinking about what it would be like in an imaginary future in which the population is divided into five factions: truth, erudition, cordiality, daring and self-denial.
There we are shown a young woman who faces the hard decision: to choose what her virtue is, in order to belong to one of the five factions, however, she knows and feels that she can develop more than one. In the Divergent universe it is forbidden to have more than one of the accepted virtues, and the consequences for developing various gifts can be dire. The fictional story was created by Roth during his college years.

Veronica Roth is an american writer Born August 19, 1988 suburban Chicago. Throughout her life, even during her youth, she was drawn to literature. Roth enjoyed spending many hours reading and writing in his high school years. Her parents always recognized her talent, prompting her to study.
They are an intellectual fascinated by literature, lover of nature and animals. Also the creator of a fantastic story that has captivated millions. She has been married to Nelson Fitch since 2011.
Studies
Received from Northwestern, and soon after she was inspired to publish her first book, which she titled Divergent. This, despite being her first work, went on to become her wonderful gateway to glory as a writer. Her success has been such that in 2014 she was among the highest paid writers.
This novel was written while I was studying creative writing in college. and the same author assures that the ideas were developed while she was driving her car.

Roth is a current writer and has developed a parallel world for all of her stories. She currently lives in Chicago with her husband and dog, and is a writing writer full time. After the success of Divergent, a saga was developed that groups three more books.
Roth lives to write and has published a new book almost every year, nonstop since 2011. His most recent work is due to be published on October 1, 2019, with high expectations from his followers.

The plot in a dystopian society
This story creates its own world in a dystopian society where the population is divided into five factions and each one of them develops a different virtue. There is the 16-year-old protagonist, Beatrice Prior, deciding what to do with her life, which faction to join, if truth (honesty), erudition (intelligence), cordiality (the peaceful ones), daring ( bravery) or self-denial (altruists).
The age of choosing your path
When young people reach 16 years of age in this society, it is time to choose the faction to which you are going to belong. The socially accepted thing is that you remain in the faction in which your family isOtherwise, it would be a type of offense, however, every young person has the possibility to choose.
The plot begins to get complicated when the 16th birthday of the protagonist, Beatrice, arrives, who does not know well with which faction she identifies. Doubt catches her for not knowing which virtue she belongs to, because she could really belong to anyone, and in the end she ends up choosing a faction that impresses everyone, including herself.

An unexpected decision
Beatriz was raised in the midst of the self-denial faction to which her family belongs, however, the day of the simulation in which she has to choose her faction, she decides to go bold, with the brave. She herself does not know if her decision was the correct one and everything begins to get complicated.
Within her personal discovery, the protagonist gives herself a new name and goes on to call herself Tris., a name that goes more with his new faction. The story unfolds between extreme situations of the faction training, threats and romances. Everything to end by understanding what a divergent is.
Forbidden to be divergent

This story has very good critics and, in addition, it has received important recognitions, like the one given by the New York Times, when rating Divergent as a bestseller. And it is not in vain, together with The Hunger Games, it is one of the best futuristic works that have been written.

Jump to cinematography
Just one year after the novel's appearance Divergent, Summit Entertainment bought the rights to the book and in 2012 the casting for the film version began. Directed by Neil Burger, the film was released on March 21, 2014.
