Carlos of Love: books

Carlos phrase of love

Carlos phrase of love

Except Collusion, Carlos del Amor's books contain a particular characteristic: they are a compilation of several original and emotional stories. Certainly, the Spanish journalist and television presenter has managed to successfully venture into literature with his fluent reading texts. Although, it is worth clarifying the following: they do not lack depth.

Similarly, Amor has been able to extrapolate into his books the same naturalness transmitted to viewers in his television appearances. In addition, the Murcian writer has occasionally shown his most personal facet, which explains the origin of a prose full of plausibility.

Life sometimes (2013)

Inspiration

Amor took the name of his book from a poem by Gil de Biedma, included in the first folio. From that entry, the text offers an enjoyable read due to the ease of the author when telling stories. In this aspect, the (probable) influence of Unamuno is palpable in the construction of intrahistories carried by ordinary characters who make something wonderful of their day to day.

The beauty of simplicity

Despite the apparent simplicity of the narrated events, the Murcian writer manages to generate a genuine feeling of identification with the people and situations described. Consequently, it is not difficult for readers to perceive a highly moving—and even idealistic—romantic emotion in stories like "The Movies."

En este sentido, the seventh art coupled with communication in the style of a television news program are distinctive elements of the entire work. In this way, everyday life can go from the bland to the amazing in the blink of an eye, since the limits between reality and fiction are not very evident.

The year without a summer (2015)

Synopsis

A journalist experiences a period of “creative traffic jam” just as he is about to start writing his first novel.. However, the circumstance begins to change when he gets a bunch of keys in the building where he lives. Soon after, the protagonist discovers that the keys correspond to the doors of each of the apartments in the building.

The month of August passes in Madrid, all its neighbors have left their residences to vacation or rest in other places. Soon, the main character is carried away by curiosity and snoops in the homes of his neighbors. In the first instance, these raids mean a kind of nocturnal hobby for him, but the sniffing soon becomes his main task.

Collusion (2017)

Argument

This novel reveals a truly disturbed main character early on. Additionally, As the pages go by, the reader begins to feel doubts about the veracity of the information received. This is due to the first-person narration by Andrés Paraíso, a successful publisher who was able to murder a literary friend during a business trip.

He is very dismayed after verifying that the news about the writer's death has not spread. For this reason, Andrés is a frequent prey to skepticism and, to make his ills worse, a doctor diagnoses him with a strange ailment: collusion. Apparently, the disease seriously alters his brain, because instead of storing new memories, it makes them.

Meta

Andrés's pathology causes the dissolution of the limits between truth and the imaginary. This is used by the author to induce a reflection in the viewer regarding the role of memory in the psychological consolidation of the present. In addition, the leading narrator delves into issues such as loneliness, disappointment and uncertainty.

Thus, there is room for deliberations linked to the complexity of the soul where he explores topics —with some sarcastic touch— about the family, affective relationships and marriage. Also, all mentions of memory problems are real, which shows a very complete documentation by Amor.

thrill you The double life of paintings (2020)

As alluded to in a previous paragraph, Carlos del Amor won the Espasa 2020 Award due to this fabulous artistic essay on 35 paintings. Over there explore the plastic creations of geniuses such as Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Rosa Bonheur, Clara Peeters, Rembrandt, Hendrick van Anthonissen, Anton van Dyck, Suzanne Valadon and Johannes Vermeer.

The book is also a declaration of love for the heroes of Spanish painting: María Blanchard, Salvador Dalí, Juan Genovés, Francisco de Goya, Ángeles Santos, Diego Velázquez and, of course, Pablo Picasso. Although most of the artists are European —from the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries—, the essay treats painters other latitudes (Utagawa Hiroshige and Leonard Foujita).

Modular

Much of the merit of Love is in leaving room for the personal interpretation of the reader. along with your own personal appreciation. This is possible thanks to the guide of the Murcian writer through two levels: typography and design. The first deals with the elaboration of the painting from a fictional perspective through dialogues, daydreams and monologues by the artist.

The second plane is an objective exploration, where Amor describes true features (difficult to perceive with the naked eye) whose explanation obeys the historical context of the work. In this point, the biography, the technical resources used and the creative capacity take on a sublime relevance that has led these masters of painting to immortality.
