Parents and teachers have certain responsibilities to fulfill with our children and students. One of them, if we want our children to be curious, have values, prefer to spend their free time with a good book rather than with a video game console (I am one of those who think that everything can be combined) and acquire over the years a rich and wide vocabulary, is to teach them to read, or rather: instill in them our passion for reading.
I always liked to read, from a very young age…. I remember that of all the school textbooks I only kept two well into university (the changes, sadly, made them disappear): one was the language (I think the sixth grade of Primary) and another was tales and stories, of hard paste, that was accompanying the previous one. In my case, the taste for literature and books in general could be said to be innate, that I never needed anyone to "push" me into it. However, perhaps because today the children they grow up with many more alternatives or due to the lack of time of the parents, they don't read as much as they should. What can we do then? Read in front of themJust pick up a book, sit next to him, and set an example. It is not about forcing them to read, in this way we will only get our children, nephews, grandchildren, hate books and run away from them.
Yesterday i saw a short which i loved. It's on Youtube and it's titled "The best short in the world to promote reading". There are about 15 minutes of video where through a story that reading passion is transmitted, that love for books. We all know what children (and not so young) like pictures, so this video can also be a good way to motivate them to read.
I encourage you to sit your children, students, cousins, nephews or grandchildren in front of the computer and let them see the video… Will it work? You will tell me ...
