This is how we celebrate Writers' Day

Day of the Writers

Lately I have heard a lot say out there, that we have days for everything, even for the most absurd things ... It may be, but what I am 100% sure of is that the fact that there is a day for writers It is not far from absurd. Why? Due to the amount of obstacles and difficulties that not only women writers have had to go through throughout history, but also those that continue to go through ... Because although today there are two names on the list of the highest paid writers in the world As a woman, it is still an abysmal difference with that of male writers (two against eight) ...

Did you know…?

Reading news and different articles regarding today I have discovered a series of facts that I was completely unaware of and that seemed quite illustrative of why today, a Writers' Day is still necessary:

  • Did you know Emilia Pardo Bazán, tried 3 times to enter the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, and they gave him as an answer "Ladies cannot be part of this Institute"?
  • Did you know that the illustrious Jose Zorrilla Told him Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda "The woman who writes is a mistake of nature"?

After hearing such retrograde and macho phrases like these, the strange thing would be that we continue without claiming the position that women deserve, including in this case, that of women writers.

Recommended books written by women

And what better way to celebrate the Women's Writers Day who recommended your magnificent books? I have made a list of ten of them (I could recommend a lot more).
