The Herald of the World Eater is here

Tomorrow the second part of the comic book adaptation of the 4 fantastic. Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer (Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer in the USA). After a first part, which although it is not bad, it is somewhat lazy (actually it is an hour and a half trailer). Of course, with an adaptation of one of the best villains of the Marvel Universe quite regrettable and shabby (in that they have no forgiveness, Victor Von Muerte deserves much more respect). In this second part, that from the plot and quality of the script we should not expect wonders or a movie, but if we can go with the idea of going to see a summer popcorn movie, entertaining, and above all, a movie in which they have done Silver Stela mind-bogglingly well.

I hope the plot is consistent with the presentation of the character of Estela Plataada in the comics (in Mexico the Silver Slider and in much of Latin America the Silver Surfer).

The original story in the comics is as follows: Silver Stele is the herald of Galactus, the Eater of Worlds, a cosmic entity that seeks the balance of the Universe (in its own way), and that feeds on the energy of the planets. Silver Stele (and Galactus both created from the fertile mind of Stan Lee and the pencils of Jack Kirby back in 1.966) was originally Norrin Radd, an astronomer from the planet Zenn-La who reaches an agreement with Galactus in which he will become his Herald in exchange for not devouring his planet, Galactus accepts the deal and turns Norrin into Stela Silver (gives him cosmic powers, turns him into a silver-colored sexless being and gives him that cool surfboard). The Herald's job is to find planets that would serve to feed Galactus, with which at first he looked for planets without life but with enough energy to feed him (something that was somewhat complicated), so he was forced to look for planets inhabited (with the following regrets). Galactus does not like this, so he telepathically manipulated him so that he had no regrets, and from that moment he began to offer him all kinds of planets. Eventually it was inevitable that it would reach Earth.

Galactus does not appear in the film, it is a voiceover (I suppose they will save it for a possible third part, and almost better, because there were rumors that they had turned Galactus into a cloud !! instead of being the gigantón What is it). Even after how well they've done the Silver Surfer digitally, they plan to make a movie just of him (they've used the same technique they used with Gollum in Lord of the Rings). The plot focuses on the arrival of Estela Palteada and her confrontation with the Fantastic 4, heroes already consolidated in society in the middle of the preparation of the wedding between Reed and Sue. Tomorrow, Friday, we will have to go see the movie and that each one form their own opinion.

My recommendation is to go without high expectations so as not to be disappointed, to think that we are going to see an entertaining movie with good special effects and nothing else so as not to be disappointed. We will always have the comics to see the heroes as they should really be (never forget that a movie is a different medium and that it is an adaptation, not a comic). And in the comics we will always have the real one Doctor Death.

"Pain? What is pain? Pain is for the weak, like love or compassion. What is pain for Death? » (Phrase pronounced by Dr. Death in the special Triumph and Torment, with Doctor Strange and Doctor Death, by Roger Stern and Mike Mignola, I write it from geek memory, I don't know if it will be literal)

How benevolent you are, currito, as the first one will be a chestnut saint, the only thing that is a bit worthwhile are the characters of The Thing and the Torch, what a scam that they have marked with Galactus, that if a shadow, that if a cloud, come on now ...
