The forgotten. David baldacci

Since last October it has been in bookstores The forgottenby David Baldacci (1960). It is the second novel in the trilogy of special agent John Puller. The prolific American author continues the series on this veteran veteran and perhaps the most experienced member of the US Army's Criminal Investigation Department.

For the most profane in Baldacci, the film adaptation that Clint Eastwood made of his novel can surely come to mind Poder absoluto (1997). Remember that Baldacci is also a screenwriter. And yes, their thrillers they are to use, but they have a punch, in this series there is a good protagonist and it is entertaining. You do not have to ask much more if that is what you are looking for. Let's see if the third is published soon.

John Puller Trilogy

Puller is not one of the best, he is the best. A veteran of the war in the Middle East is a special agent in the US Army and his commanders fully trust him to investigate the most complicated and dangerous crimes that may affect national security. Methodical, disciplined, always fit ...

In other words, military machinery always ready. Oh, and a cat owner. Also He has an older brother, Robert, who is a military man like him, a computer genius and who is serving a life sentence for treason. But something is not clear in that sentence and Puller will endeavor to find out what it is throughout the series.

They are very marked by the figure of their father, a highly recognized and decorated military man, now ill and confined in a residence. Puller visits him frequently, but the relationship with him is difficult because his father sometimes does not recognize him and treats him like a soldier under his command. In any case, for Puller the important thing is duty and he abides by it, although later he may use more or less orthodox methods.

John Puller series

John Puller series

1. Day zero

In this first novel, Puller has to investigate a case in a rural and very isolated area of the West Virginia mining region. An entire family has been murdered and the young homicide inspector of the local police will work side by side with Puller.

Of course, the investigation will get more complicated as you connect the dots. The ending maintains the tension in a very successful way and the dramatic touch is not lacking.

2. The forgotten

In this newly published second novel, Puller goes to Florida to solve a personal case: his aunt has been found dead, who lives in Paradise, a coastal city and very prosperous by the rich tourism that visits it, attracted by its fabulous beaches and a spectacular climate. Local police have concluded that the death, an apparent fall, was accidental. But before her aunt died she sent a letter to Puller's father, where she told him that Paradise was not what it seemed. When Puller begins to investigate, he discovers that his aunt's death is far from an accident..

3. The Escape

I imagine that when they publish it it will be titled The escape o Leakage, because that's what it's about, a leak, but a very special one. John Puller will see that his all his training, experience and skills are of no use to him when he has to be the one to look for his brother Robert, who has escaped from the maximum security prison where he is.

His inexplicable escape makes him the most wanted criminal in the country and who better than his brother to capture him alive. But Puller soon discovers that more people are looking for his brother who want him dead.. In addition, they assign an agent as a partner who makes it quite difficult and it might have its own way of handling the case.

The matter is complicated not only by the professional relationship (and something else) between Puller and his partner, but by increasingly clear evidence that his brother was wrongly convicted. And someone doesn't want all the truths to be known.

Verdict

The series is winning in each of the books and the third is a good climax to finish it off or take it up again in the future if Baldacci wants to. So I recommend it if you like to have a good time with easy, entertaining reading and a good dose of action and tension.

Well, if you are into the Yankee supermen of the US Army, this is the MOST, heh, heh. If not, I don't know. But I do know that the plots are good, the rhythm too and the action is guaranteed ;-).
