La 27 Generation was a poetic group that had in its ranks illustrious such as Pedro Salinas, Jorge Guillén, Gerardo diego, Federico García Lorca, Rafael Alberti, Vicente Aleixandre, Luis Cernuda, Emilio Prados, Manuel Altolaguirre and Dámaso Alonso. This group of poets and friends was evolving their thoughts as a whole.
They began trying to find a balance between the literary past and the new trends that were so on the rise with the appearance of the avant-gardes, although their main common point was the rejection of rhetorical excesses in search of what could accurately be called the Pure poetry.
Starting in 1929, some of them began to explore surrealism as a means to overcome the crises that occurred in many of those privileged minds, although sooner or later, following Neruda's line, they ended up engaging in poetic-political work and making the communication of ideals on the mere search for beauty as the sole and ultimate goal of literary endeavor.
After the end of the war, the commitment became more evident, although it was carried out from different parts of the world as a result of the dispersion in the form of forced exile in which they were all immersed due to their firm opposition to the atrocities of the Franco regime that among other things he had the impudence and little humanity to execute the most promising of them all, such as Federico García Lorca, depriving our lyrics of all the works that the great poet and playwright would have created had he been alive ...
