Last week one of my nephews turned six and, as 'the librarian aunt' that I am, I gave him a couple of books. I went to a children's bookstore that has recently opened in my town and I have to say that it was one of the best times I have spent lately.
Among the news I found, the bookstore told me about a collection of very interesting books: The Adventures of Alfred and Agatha.
This collection edited by Edebé is recommended for children between six and nine years old and starts from a very interesting premise: What if two giants of mystery like Alfred Hitchcock and Agatha Christie had met as children?
The books that make up this collection play with the idea of what the childhood friendship of the two masters of suspense might have been like.
Its author is Ana Campoy (Madrid, 1979), graduated in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid. After a few years dedicated to acting, theater, scripts, even dubbing, she finally returned to literature and studied children's and youth literature at the Madrid School of Writers.
She currently works as a journalist and as a writer for this collection of mystery stories for the little ones.
En The Adventures of Alfred and AgathaAlong with young Agatha Christie and Alfred Hitchcock, we find Morritos Jones, a dog who is Agatha's best friend and who has two peculiarities: she has two tails and a special intelligence.
Edited in Spanish and Catalan, the collection currently consists of seven adventures:
- The ten Elster birds
- The silver shilling
- The magic Box
- The pianist who knew too much
- Houdini's great trick
- England's race
- The mummy of the Titanic
A perfect collection of books for children to enjoy the best mystery in these summer holidays that are so long when one can count their years on the fingers of the hands.
