Blas de Otero begins in poetry existential, which is reflected in two widely known works such as "Angel fiercely human" and "Redoble de conscience", which together later gave rise to a volume entitled "Ancia", a word resulting from joining the first syllable of the first title and the last of the second.
In these books the poet shows through his voice lyric the sorrow and anguish of every human being in the face of death, which is increased by the lack of answers from a God who does not answer the questions asked and by means of which it is intended to mitigate the aforementioned anguish and obtain some peace, something men are condemned to yearn for but not obtain because of the inexorable road to death.
Its second stage corresponds to poetry social and within it we find other well-known titles such as "I ask for peace and the word" among others. The very title of this work gives us an idea of what is sought in this stage, words to proclaim injustice and peace, something that is not abundant in the country and that the poet believes is necessary to be able to live with dignity.
Finally, in his last years Blas de Otero dedicates himself to a poetry of character reflexive in which he examines his own career and in which he analyzes some biographical aspects.
