Own Rubén Darío was very clear when referring to his work "Songs of Life and Hope." When asked about her, he said the following: << «Blue» symbolizes the beginning of my spring and «Profane prose»My full spring; "Songs of life and hope contains the wise essences of my autumn." We could not begin this article by defining the content of the work in a better way than by quoting the words of its own author.
And it is that from the beginning of the work you can see the poetic maturity of Darío, who in his first verse says "I am the one who just said yesterday ..." with which he refers to his poetics, his literary conception and his expression has matured to give shape to the work that concerns us today, in which the evolved thought of the magnificent Nicaraguan poet also appears, who over the years was shaping his ideas.
The expression in this set of poems is much more sober, which does not detract from the brilliance of its lexicon, which also continues to emphasize the aristocracy of thought, the nobility of art and the contempt of everything that is not deep and sublime, that is, it frees itself a kind of battle against mediocrity, which for the poet is a kind of degradation of man.
In this new stage, Darío decides to leave his «Ivory tower»And as he himself says in one of his verses, he knows that he is a poet for the select minority and that despite the fact that the great masses are not his audience, he feels he must tend towards a closer relationship with them in order to fulfill his social mission. That is why political issues appear more strongly in the pages of this book since for him it is almost an obligation to echo the feelings and needs of the people themselves.
