Something about the 'nini' generation

ha-sandoval

The nini generation, that damn name with which the most “mature” have condemned us, which means “neither study nor work”, has its own novel.

Is called 'Operative Nini', and it is from Jaime Alfonso Martinez Sandoval. A novel that was announced this Tuesday as the winner of the third edition of the contest organized by Editorial Normal and the National Book Fair of León, having received a total of 16 papers.

A jury made up of particular writers determines it as:

“The work addresses in a precise, ingenious and fun way, a current social problem in today's youth. He proposes talented, caustic humor as a solution to a hopeless situation. The characters, endearing and fully credible, will help young readers to identify with them ”.

The story focuses on the adventures of a trio of young people who five years after leaving high school have only dedicated themselves to accumulating Chuck Norris movies, but the future realization of a great reunion with their former schoolmates puts them in action.

The author already has some experience in this literature. He has previously won the 2006 Steam Boat Prize for “Ghosts, specters and other dirty rags”; the 2002 Wide Angle for "Mutant Republic"; the Castle of Reading 2001 for "Confidences of a superhero" and the FILIJ Story for Children 1998 for "Murmurs under the bed."

Although the author himself excuses himself by saying that he has been a nini type, and that there are also nini parents or nini governments, this term has always seemed disrespectful and something totally out of reality. If we count on the fact that the world that young people have inherited, and especially our country, where there are no job opportunities or future possibilities, has been previously destroyed by the older ones, obviously it has neither head nor tail of this type of term. It's about loading the brown to the other, as always. Of not admitting responsibility for permanent and perpetual failure. The reality is that we don't always get what we deserve.
