We've all seen book vending machines in metro and train stations, upon payment of the amount, of course. Now the French publishing company Short Édition, created in 2011, continues the idea but changes the concept. They started by installing some machines at the Grenoble train station. Also vending, but instead of books, they dispense stories and short stories. No brand, no slogan. Just a clear and concise name: distributeur d'histories courtes. Just push a button and you're done. Oh, and without spending a euro.

Is texts of an extension folio and of all genres, also childish. In addition, the buttons are numbered (one, three and five), which are the minutes it takes to read the texts. The initiative was hugely successful, which is already a merit in this digital world in which we live. So they have not been slow to distribute many more machines in the most diverse places. It is also spreading and has already reached the United States. I wonder if we'll see them around here.

In addition to the free service, it is also unlimited. You hit the button as many times as you want and read whatever it is, because the text is random and doesn't take into account the consumer's taste. More than 5 authors and more than 000 stories in the form of micro-stories, micro-soap operas, poetry… The entire process of choosing, operating and reading does not take more than 20 minutes.

A different form of fast and interesting cultural leisure, available to anyone and at any time. First a train station, now many more stations, bus, metro, in the hospital waiting room, a cafeteria, a museum; even in the supermarket or almost in the park.

It favors the exchange of culture and the reader has the possibility to choose their favorite stories and authors, to whom it provides visibility. Short Edition aims to help these authors and his short works to make a place in the literary tastes readers in general, but also journalists, booksellers and whoever. The authors simply send their texts through the web and an editorial committee made up of Internet readers evaluates them and decides on their publication. These texts are also available online and can be read on any electronic device.

Here, and especially in large cities, there are initiatives such as Books on the street. Or those of leaving them in different parts of the city for someone to find them, read them and return them. Well, maybe one day we will find one of these machines in any corner. Hopefully.

Hopefully, you said so. It would be a joy for the reader to have these machines. The article was very interesting, I was unaware of its existence. Thank you very much Mariola
