Pulp, the last novel Bukowski gave us

Charles Bukowski

Welcome readers! Today we bring the review of the last book published by the late Charles Bukowski. This author was one of the greats, or at least he never left anyone indifferent. Either you loved it or you hated it.

In this case, for those who loved him, he couldn't leave us a better work before he left. With his peculiar style, dirty, crude and irreverent, he gave us this tangled novel with touches of science fiction.

This time, Bukowski puts aside his alter ego Chinaski. Pulp stars Nick Belane, who calls himself "the best detective in Los Angeles and East Hollywood."

This self-destructive character, alcoholic, addicted to gambling and of course on the verge of bankruptcy, will find himself involved in a tangle of cases to be solved.

One morning Belane receives a call from Mrs. Death, who asks her to find out if the authentic French writer Céline is still alive. Of course, the detective is more than surprised, since Céline died along with Hemingway, but the sum offered by the client and her financial problems will make him accept the assignment.

As if by magic, and after his work drought, the clientele begins to increase. His stunning and strange client is joined by Mr. Barton, who puts all his trust in him to locate the Red Sparrow.

His case list continues to grow. After these two assignments, he is followed by Jack Bass, who wants to find out if his wife is cheating on him, and the eccentric Mr. Groves, convinced that his girlfriend is an alien.

But you will not only have to deal with these most bizarre cases. His problems with the landlord, with his neighbor postman, with the thugs and with the world in general, will complicate his life until he solves the cases.

This novel offers some of the most picturesque characters, and with a plot so surreal that it is impossible to disengage from. Get to capture the reader from the first page.

As we have already commented, Bukowski, falls in love or is hated. If you are one of the first group, or if you have not yet had the pleasure of reading it, you cannot miss it.

Have a happy reading!

Hi Diana, I think if I'm going to read Pulp, I didn't know Bukowski but I read Postman a few days ago and I liked his casual and marginal style.
