Born in 1946 in Middlesbrough, England, was going to priest Catholic, but eventually studied History in Liverpool and Oxford. There he got a doctorate with a thesis on Eduardo II and Isabel I. It was also secondary education teacher in various cities.

Friar Athelstan series

It stars Friar Athelstan, a dominican that, by a series of previous hazards in his life, is destined for the humble parish of San Erconwaldo in the outskirts of london.
