Literature as a way to change the world

World books 1

In recent years, the Internet and new technologies have allowed art to acquire new (and effective) aspirations. A fact that takes over from a History that over the centuries has shown that, before blogs and tweets, many artists, and especially writers, even dared to challenge the system. Confirming examples the capacity of literature as a way to change the world.

Write. Read. Think.

Darwin challenged the Church with his theory of evolution. After tickling Islam with The Satanic Verses, the writer Salman Rushdie had to take refuge if he didn't want his head cut off. Years later, Roberto Saviano would need an escort after publishing Gomorrah, the story of that other Italy that the Neapolitan camorra did not like. Even The Da Vinci Code should be thanked for its ability to raise the eyebrows of more than one devoted reader.

History is full of great authors who at the time dared to transcend beyond simple entertainment and bet on stories that changed the way we think. However, in a time when new technologies such as the Internet and its blogs or social networks, the world seems to become a jungle of artistic ideas with even more effective aspirations.

In fact, simple writing gives way to projects in which literature reaches an even more powerful degree when it comes to changing the world: the recent example we mentioned about LaPrek literature and its impact on an India that once again succumbed to letters; the culture of "the micro" as an inspiration to some writers who have dared to leave a few verses on their Twitter every day; blogs in which young people from underdeveloped countries have turned their frustrations to end up publishing a book. . . Successes that, with some good marketing involved on certain occasions, allow thousands of people to be mobilized and their way of thinking changed.

At this point, the question in this article becomes a mere statement that you would surely already know in advance, hence the intention is none other than inspire people like you to do their bit in this great jungle of ideas called the Internet. And with them, perhaps the whole world.

What negative aspect of today's world would you like or have you tried to change through your lyrics?
