The international Book Fair, Free 19, at IFEMA of Madrid. And yesterday I was lucky enough to attend the opening party. Among editors, authors, distributors of the great national and foreign publishing names and many stands, I was able to greet the writer Beatriz Oses, benchmark of children's and youth literature, with his popular series of Erik vogler.

Beatriz Oses

First of all my thanks to Marta Muntada, from Edebe, for your kindness in inviting me. It was a pleasure meeting Beatriz, the Madrid author of children's and youth literature, which has reaped a new success in the genre with its series starring Erik vogler.

Osés has a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University. His career includes from papers in seminars and activities to encourage creative reading and writing and various awards to his works. Among others, the Lazarillo Prize for Literary Creation in 2006 by Tales like fleas, Orihuela City Children's Poetry International in 2008 by The secret of the anteater, or the Youth Novel The Compass in 2010 by The cloud counter, with which he was a finalist for the National Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature in 2011. Last year we signed the Pact for Gender Equality in Colombia, an agreement that symbolizes the co-responsibility of around XNUMX organizations with the implementation of actions that contribute to reducing inequalities. he won Edebé Prize for Children's Literature with Soy una nuez.

Erik Vogler series

Osés started this series in 2011. , which already takes 8 titles, so it's been very prolific. Directed to Children between 9 and 12 years (and also older up to 99), has already sold more than 100.000 copies and has translated into several languages. But who is Erik Vogler?

Well Erik is a german boy that, as a good Teuton or appealing to the cliché, is a order freak and neatness, with a certain touch repellent. He also has an ability, gift or curse: can see ghosts, and they lend more than one hand to solve mysteries and cases whom he will face in each of the books.

The success of this series is precisely that combination of stories with a paranormal touch and also humor within a black genre with a mixture of thriller which is not so common in juvenile literature. Their titles are these:

  1. Erik Vogler and the crimes of the white king. This title also has a gift box edition.
  2. Erik Vogler in death at the spa
  3. Erik Vogler and the Curse of Misty Abbey-Castle
  4. Erik Vogler and the wrong girl
  5. Erik Vogler Heartless
  6. Erik Vogler The Secret of Albert Zimmer
  7. Erik Vogler: Checkmate
  8. Erik Vogler: Revenge

Illustrations are by Iban Barrenetxea, also with a long and successful career as an illustrator and author.

Free 19

Ends on the 11th, so there is a little bit left to take advantage of. Liber together publishers, authors, literary agents, booksellers, distributors and other professionals in the sector. It is sponsored by Ministry of Culture and Sports, ICEX, the Community and the Madrid City Council, the Spanish Center for Reprographic Rights (CEDRO) and Acción Cultural Española (AC / E) and the Madrid Publishers Association also collaborate. And this year the accent is placed on digital content, new publishers, desktop publishing and literary agents.

Opening party

Somewhat soulless except in the sections of the big publishing names (and not all), it was animated on several occasions. And in the absence of the doors officially opening today, he counted some recognition of successes or celebrations at different times. Remember that it is located in the pavilion No. 7 of IFEMA, overflowing with stands, and where more than 452 companies from 11 countries -Germany, Argentina, Belgium, China, Spain, the United States, France, India, Italy, Mexico and Russia.

And the guest of honor of this edition has been Sharjah, one of the 7 United Arab Emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates and that has its capital in that city, considered cultural capital of that nation. His stand was one of the busiest and most celebrated being there.
