Jimena Tierra — Interview

  • ACTUALIDAD LITERATURA: Your latest published novel is titled death in a card. What can you tell us about her and where did the idea for her come from?

JIMENA EARTH: It is a true crime documented on the nickname deck killer that frightened the Community of Madrid and that next year will mark the twentieth anniversary of his crimes.

  • AL: Can you remember any of your first readings? And your first writing?

JT: I remember Flowers in the Attic y rebels. And, before that, but not long before, Ben loves Ana, Beetles fly at sunset, Paulina, Batautos do batautadas y The Pirate Tick.

The first thing I wrote was story of a bunny who was unhappy in the forest and befriended an oak tree. The oldest. They were both alone. I submitted it to the Círculo de Lectores contest and, fortunately, it did not win.

  • AL: A leading author? You can choose more than one and from all periods.

JT: Hundreds. Carlos Bassas of the King, Esther Garcia Llovet, Anne Sexton, Lewis Cernuda.

  • AL: What character in a book would you have liked to meet and create?

JT: I would have liked to write the books of Miguel Delibes placeholder image, anticipate their characters and plots. Also luckily, I didn't. Delibes there is only one and he is second to none.

  • AL: Any special habits or habits when it comes to writing or reading?

JT: I need that All beene organized around me. And, preferably, without interruptions.

  • AL: And your preferred place and time to do it?

JT: oh first hour in the morning, in my office. It's the fresher I feel to visualize the idea and transfer it.

  • AL: Are there other genres that you like?

JT: There is no genre that I don't like. There are authors that I like more or less, yes.

  • AL: What are you reading now? And writing?

JT: Now I'm reading Nothing important, by Monica Rouanet. I am superstitious when it comes to writing. I'm doing it, but I can't tell you the plot.

  • AL: How do you think the publishing scene is and how are all the cultural activities and events that you do with Grupo Terra Trivium?

JT: The small business publishing landscape has a delicate future. The global paper crisis has tightened economic conditions and the physical book is becoming a luxury item. Fortunately there are many alternatives and we readers can continue to enjoy our hobby in other formats.

As for the cultural events neighborhoods, are the long-distance racing that involve a lot of effort and dedication over several months and then be reflected in a few days.

  • AL: Is the moment of crisis we are experiencing being difficult for you or can you keep something positive for future stories or ideas?

JT: Every stage has its positive aspect, as hard as it is. Especially in writing. There is always information to take advantage of. It just depends on the perspective.
