Interview with the writer and private detective Rafael Guerrero

Who is Rafael Guerrero?

From Madrid, Rafael Guerrero is private detective, university professor and criminologist by the Complutense University. He is also in charge of the Grupo Agency World Inv, a detective agency private companies in Madrid with services throughout the national territory that also extend to the international arena. His clients include companies, lawyers and individuals.

What do they do? Well since follow-ups, search for missing persons, escaped minors, etc.. They also offer private security services as well as surveillance.

Since 1992 Guerrero has solved multiple cases and belongs to the World Association of Detectives of the United States, in addition to being a collaborating partner of the IInternational Police AssociationAnd also there is time to be a writer and have already published tthree novels of black gender, of course.   1. Do you remember the first book you read? And the first story you wrote?

Yeah right. It was The odyssey, of Homer. I am sure that from that reading my passion for travel and maybe for reading. The first story I wrote was A Warrior Among Falcons - Diary of a Private Detective. My first novel written in 2010.

  1. What was the first book that struck you and why?

The Shiningby Stephen King. I remember reading it and being scared to death. A masterpiece within the horror genre.

  1. Who's your favorite writer? You can choose more than one and from all eras.

Manuel Vázquez Montalbán within the genre noir. I also read a lot test and I opt for Fernando Trías de Bes and María Jesús Álava Reyes. There are so many authors!

  1. What character in a book would you have liked to meet and create?

A James Bond with Ian Fleming. I was very influenced by his novels about the famous secret agent.

  1. Any mania when it comes to writing or reading?

I write at night, I have an iron discipline to be able to finish my novels. I have to be alone and very concentrated. During the day I collect all the notes that I am including in my plots. To read is always a good time.

  1. And your preferred place and time to do it?

En my home office, without noise, without messages and without anyone but me and the computer.

  1. What writer or book has influenced your work as an author?

As I said before, Ian Fleming. On another plane Juan Madrid, Frederic Beigbeder, Charles Bukowski...

  1. What are your favorite genres?

Black and police genre. Also essay, especially, of psychology and criminology.

  1. What are you reading now? And writing?

I'm reading Multiple killersby Vicente Garrido. I just finished writing my fourth novel, I, Detective, but I never stop writing, be it reviews or stories that they ask me for publications or blogs specialized in black gender.

  1. How do you think the publishing scene is for as many authors as there are or want to publish?

Like everything in these times, difficult, but there is only one way: write and improve every day. As my yoga teacher says, "what has to come will come."
