Firebreather returns with film and new series

Perhaps many of you will not know what I am talking about but back in 2003, Image took out a miniseries called firebreather, in which the scripts were in charge of Phil Hester, that if my memory does not deceive me, I was also at that time with The WretchAnd with andy kuhn in the drawings. The story focused on the life of the young man Duncan rosenblatt, who could have been any teenager except for the fact that he is half a dragon, which makes his journey to maturity much harder than that of the rest of the boys his age, if we add to that that he is a son of separated parents.

The four-issue miniseries ended and since then little has been known about the character, since his only appearance as a protagonist was a year after the aforementioned ended, with a one shot called The Iron Saint (The Saint of Iron). After that some sporadic appearances in crossovers with other Image characters, but Hester's forays first in DC and then in Marvel, made us think that we would not hear from him again. But not. It seems that Firebreather is making a strong comeback as the US premiere of a animation film By computer that can be seen in cartoon network.

To this must be added the imminent departure of a new series of comics that will bear the title of Firebreather: Holmgang, where we see Duncan suffering the consequences after the death of his father, which forces the young man to take on new responsibilities, being his father's heir as he is. Therefore, what is narrated in the four original numbers is continued, this new number one functioning almost as if it were the fifth. Hopefully some publisher will be pleased to bring these new episodes (in their day Fin published the miniseries in two volumes), at least for those of us who are followers of a character who is surely not one of the best known, but who is still worth a chance.
