Do you know Enola Holmes and her books? Since the “Sherlock Holmes sister” movie came out on Netflix, it has become very famous and that has allowed its books to reach Spain. But how many are there?

If you want to know more about this character and everything that is hidden under him, in addition to having a list of Enola Holmes' books, then you have everything.

Who is Enola Holmes

Enola introduced herself as the little sister of the great detective Sherlock Holmes and his brother, Mycroft. However, in the Sherlock Holmes novels it does not appear. It was really a creation of another author (in this case author).

Enola starts out being 14 years old. She has been educated by her mother in all the arts and, on the very day of her birthday, her mother disappears. Therefore, despite the fact that Sherlock and Mycroft try to take care of her and think about her future, she decides that she is the only one who can find her mother's whereabouts and therefore escapes from her brothers to show them that she has the same detective gift that they have. them and that she is old enough to mind her own business (and other mysteries).

The person who created Enola Holmes was Nancy Springer. She is an American writer of children's literature, fantasy, science fiction and mystery. Actually, if we know a little about the author's biography, it would seem that Enola is a version of Nancy since she also has two older brothers, has been educated by her mother and in many arts and even at the age of 14 her mother started to lose their health due to cancer, menopause and Alzheimer's.

Before writing the Enola Holmes books, she published other books, both in collections and multi-book series, for which she even received awards.

Enola's first was published in 2006 and after this came five more, although with them she only obtained two nominations (she did not win any awards).

Enola Holmes books are not too many. The last one was published in 2010 and as far as we know it ended the entire series of this character. So we can tell you that it is a complete series of six books. Each of them can be read independently but always it is more advisable to start with the first ones to see nuances in the different books (especially in the last one).

As for the age of the readers, it is recommended from 9-10 years old since it falls within youth literature.

The Case of the Missing Marquis

The first Enola Holmes book begins by introducing us to the character of Enola Holmes and telling us about her life, but also linking her to that of her brothers, Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes.

On the day of her 14th birthday her mother disappears and she runs away to London to find some clue that can tell her where her mother is.. However, when she gets there she runs into another mystery, that of the disappearance of a young marquis while trying to avoid her two brothers, whose objective is to take her to a boarding school to "get her off his back".

The book is a mystery and hooks from the beginning. It is ideal for children from 9 years old.

The case of the left-handed lady

Enola is missing. No matter how hard Sherlock Holmes tries, he is not able to find her and meanwhile, she avoids him at all costs. But nevertheless, comes across a mystery, some charcoal drawings that seem to be related to Lady Cecily, an author who has recently disappeared. For this reason, he decides to reveal what has happened to the author, while continuing to hide from Sherlock.

The case of the enigma of the flower bouquets

When Sherlock Holmes' right-hand man, Dr. Watson, goes missing, Sherlock moves heaven and earth to find him. But without success. His sister, Enola, upon hearing the news, decides to help him and look for a clue to Watson herself before it is too late.

The case of the pink fan

Lady Cecily, the character from the second book, returns in this installment in which, communicating with Enola Holmes through a pink fan, He informs him that a young lady has been held in an orphanage and that they plan to marry her off by force.

He knows that for a case like this he will need the help of Sherlock Holmes but, if he asks for it, it could mean losing the freedom he has earned so far. And if not, an innocent could lose hers.

The case of the pictograph

Mrs. Tupper, the family's landlady and cook, is not just a servant, but a part of her family and the closest thing to replacing her mother. Because When she finds out that she has been kidnapped, she will risk everything to find out what has happened and to recover that person so special to her.

The case of the goodbye message

Lady Blanchefleur del Campo has disappeared. So Enola sets to work to find out what has happened to her. Sherlock meets her on the way and is looking for her because there is news about her mother.

In the book, they will not only have to deal with the mystery of Lady Blanchefleur but also that of her mother, in which her other brother, Mycroft, will also be a part.

Graphic novels

In addition to the six books that make up the adventures of Enola Holmes, there are four graphic novels (with self-contained and each of them deals with a different case).

In this case, they differ from the others in the drawings, since, although many may think that it is like a comic, it is a little more than that since it has a more complex and complete plot (The story begins and ends in the same book, not as it happens in some other comics). These are:

  • Enola Holmes and the mystery of the double disappearance.
  • Enola Holmes and the surprising case of Lady Alistair.
  • The enigma of the poppies.
  • The secret of the fan.

Do you now dare to start with the Enola Holmes books?
