Rules of the Cosplay Contest

On the web FICOMIC have published the bases of the Cosplay Contest of the XIII Manga Salon that will be celebrated the days November 1 to 4 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. For those of you who don't know, the Cosplay it is etymologically from English costume play, costume game, consists of dressing up as a character (real or inspired) from a manga, anime, movie, book or video game or even singers and musical groups and trying to interpret it as much as possible. Aichi TV and FICOMIC organize once again the official contest in Spain of the World Cosplay Summit. The winning pair will participate in the grand final that will take place in Nagoya, expected in August 2008, although the dates have yet to be confirmed.

Read the bases carefully. Online registration will begin on Wednesday, September 12 from 18:XNUMX p.m.

1.- The teams of cosplayers participating in the World Cosplay Summit are made up of two people. There will be a maximum of 40 participating teams.

2.- The official World Cosplay Summit 2008 contest will take place on Saturday, November 3 from 16:XNUMX p.m.

3.- 30 teams will register online through the FICOMIC website. Those registered online must confirm their registration at the registration stand on the stage (Poliesportiu del Center) on the same Saturday, November 3 from 10 am. The online registration period ends on September 26 at 20:XNUMX p.m.

4.- The 10 remaining teams and 10 reserve teams to make up for possible cancellations will register directly at the stage's registration stand (Poliesportiu del Center) on Saturday, November 3 from 10 am.

5.- Participants must deliver on the day of the championship a CD containing only the chosen musical theme recorded in MP3 format.

6.- Registered participants must have been born before June 30, 1990.

7.- Costumes must be based on characters from Japanese manga, anime, or video games. The costumes of the two team members must necessarily belong to the same manga, anime or video game.

8.- The costumes must be made by hand. Pre-made or custom costumes are not allowed. The accessories or pre-made parts can be used to make the costume by the participant. These prefabricated elements can only be used if they have been clearly modified by the participant.

9.- Participants must perform a choreography with music of their choice. The duration of the performance cannot exceed 2 minutes.

10.- The jury will directly choose the winning couple, who will go to the world final in Japan, and those classified in second and third place. Second and third ranked cosplayers will receive a batch of prizes courtesy of partner companies.

11.- The jury will assess the originality, good taste, beauty and making of the costumes, as well as the choreography and staging of the contestants in their performance.

12.- The winners must have availability to travel to Japan for a week and participate in the World Cosplay Summit 2008 on the dates it is held. In the event that the winning team cannot go, it will be replaced by the second-placed team. If he could not go either, his place would be occupied by the third classified.

13.- In keeping with Royal Decree 137/1993 on the Weapons Regulation, it is strictly forbidden for participants to use firearms, metal and other blunt objects or imitations that due to their characteristics may lead to confusion about their true nature. . The use of elements dangerous to the physical integrity of people such as pyrotechnic and flammable material is also prohibited. Imitations of weapons will only be allowed in plastic, cardboard and other materials that are not dangerous for either the contestants or the audience.

14.- The organization and the jury reserve the right to adopt any initiative that, without being regulated in these bases, contributes to the greater success of the contest without any claim being made.

15.- Participation in the contest implies the express waiver of any claim against FICOMIC as the organizer of the World Cosplay Summit Contest within the XIII Manga Fair and the full acceptance of the rules. Any doubt about its interpretation will be resolved by its organization.
