CAM Comic Creators Contest

Good news for him comic book world, Ya que Mediterranean Box supports the work of young creators from their Social Works. Among the initiatives they propose are the CREACAM contests. In its first edition, the call focuses on the field of comics, whose bases are the following:

1.- Participants
Young nationals or foreigners, over 18 years old and not over 35 years old in December 2007, may request their participation in this contest, individually or in teams (of two or three people).

Each participant may present a maximum of three works (individually or collectively).

2.-Competition categories

Three thematic categories are set in the contest:

- SOLIDARITY (Immigration. Prevention of gender violence. Social integration of groups in situations of special vulnerability.)
- ENVIRONMENT (Alternative energies and energy saving. Climate change. Water. Biodiversity.)
- CULTURE (Interculturality. Innovation and avant-garde. Mediterranean and Ibero-American cultural and artistic heritage).

The technique and design of the comic will be free. The format of the work must be A4 or A3. The work must be presented written in Spanish, labeled under the motto or pseudonym and the pages numbered, with a minimum length of 8 pages and a maximum of 12 pages.

The main characters must be original, of their own creation and unpublished.

The works must be unpublished and have not been awarded in any other contest; not only on the date of their admission to the contest, but also at the time of the announcement of the ruling.

3.- Presentation

The deadline for admission of works is from March 1 to 15, 2008. After that day, only those postal items whose postmarks show that they were submitted within the period will be admitted to the contest.

The work will be presented labeled under the motto or pseudonym to preserve the identity of the author / s, accompanied by a bond or a sealed envelope, inside which the duly completed attached participation form must appear. This can be obtained at www.obrasocial.cam.es

The works will be presented on paper and CD in JPG / JPEG or high resolution PDF format.

4.-Awards

The prizes with which this contest is endowed are the following for each of the three categories (solidarity, environment and culture):

First prize: 6.000 euros
Second prize 3.000 euros
Third prize: 1.500 euros
A maximum of four second prize of 500 euros each

No author may benefit from more than one prize or second prize. The prizes will be paid in favor of the person who made the registration, and will be subject to what the current tax regulations determine.

The Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo reserves the right to make use of any award-winning work or a part of it, according to its interest and non-profit, always citing the author, being able to publish and / or edit them in book form , DVD, Web or similar, like doing traveling exhibitions.

5.-Jury

A jury made up of people of recognized prestige within the world of comics will select those works that it considers qualified to be part of the different categories. If, in the opinion of the jury, the accepted works do not meet sufficient quality, some of the prizes may be declared void.

The decision issued by the jury that will be final will be made public during the month of April 2008 on the website www.obrasocial.cam.es

Participants may request the return of their submitted work once the jury's decision is made public.

After two months from the date of the jury's decision, the works submitted to the competition and not awarded will not be returned by the organization, and requests for return will not be accepted.
