Christmas. 3 classics: the Grinch, the match girl and Mr. Scrooge

Christmas. Again or, rather, every year comes before, at this rate we will start it at the end of October. Anyway, what their tales, their stories, their spirits return more or less endearing, his nostalgia, his good intentions and wishes of always. So, why avoid topics if it never goes out of style. These are my 3 classic literary characters Christmas: from the most recently created, the Grinch of the Doctor seuss, to Hans Christian Andersen's Little Match Girl and ending with the most famous, Mr. Scrooge by Charles Dickens.

Most Christmas stories and tales contain a reflexióna social denunciation or a sobering ending who also usually touches the emotions. And so it is with these three stories starring characters that we all keep in that emotional memory.

El Grinch - Doctor seuss

Theodor Seuss Geisel was an American writer and cartoonist, famous for his children's books written under his pseudonym, Dr. Seuss. Public more than 60 books for children, characterized by their characters protagonists full of imagination, and the use of catchy rhymes that also facilitate learning in their reading.

The Grinch is his most famous creation and appeared for the first time in 1957 in the book How the Grinch stole Christmas!, text that also illustrated. Here in Spain it is undoubtedly best known for the Film adaptation who starred Jim Carrey in 2000.

His character and appearance of evil elf, his heart smaller than the rest of the people, his hatred for christmas… And his final conversion, unable to resist that Christmas spirit, are but a transcript of his most famous precedent: Mr. Scrooge.

The Little Match Girl - Hans Christian Andersen

The Danish master of children's stories wrote one of the best, most beautiful and also saddest: The little match girl, also known as The Match Girl or simply The match girl. It has also been the subject of adaptations as cartoon short films. Since the last of disney, which brings the story to Russia, up to a 1902 silent film version.

Published in 1848, Andersen appealed to the wake up call on that Christmas spirit blurred by parties and celebrations, waste without measure and forgetting those who have the least. And it left no room for anyone's conversion or for the happy ending. Alone at the pool of compassion and hopeIn truth, the last thing that is lost, that can be found, despite everything, in the human heart, even if it is too late as it happens in this case.

The history of this poor and lonely little match girl in that New Years Eve so cold, with the only warmth of its matches and its visions full of illusion and hope, it is as moving as it is devastating in your intention. And that's why it continues to work over the years.

Mr. Scrooge - Charles Dickens

There is no one left in the world who does not know Ebenezer Scrooge. Or to Little Tim or your employee Bob Cratchit Tim's father, or his partner Jacob Marley. Or to the three ghosts who visit him on Christmas Eve, the Christmas Past, Present and Future, especially that of the Futures. Y if there is anyone leftIs that not of this world. Even more so when it is one of the most adapted stories to all kinds of formats, from movies to musicals.

The most famous Christmas story and possibly the best known work of Charles Dickens, el Victorian novel master with a social component and great development of the human heart. And Ebenezer Scrooge was his greatest achievement.

His story of redemption is universal because it touches the simplest: the passage of time, the actions in life, the lack of that heart and its recovery. Through the nostalgia and the wake-up call about that time and the way to live it with others, precisely at Christmas, the time of the year that should be shared the most with everyone.
