Alfredo Bryce Echenique and the King of curves

In recent statements to the EFE agency, the Peruvian writer Alfredo Bryce Echenique He has made several statements that are worth reviewing.

For example, he said he does not believe that literature can change the world but believes that a book can save someone's life.

And he has seen it firsthand. Bryce He tells that he keeps numerous letters in which his readers thank him for having helped them overcome a bad trance, to come out afloat, to get out of the "well" or even tell him that he has saved them from suicide.

In the forty years since the publication of his first book, Closed orchard, Bryce has received numerous letters from grateful readers. Most of those letters he keeps, more than that, he keeps them as a treasure and files them with great care.

This writer, who is next to edit a new storybook The king of curves, as is known, has lived more outside than inside Peru.

Until recently I lived in Madrid (after going through Europe, several cities of United States y South America), but has said that there in Madrid a large number of Peruvians called on the "way" through Spain, and they visited him, either to talk, to drink, to share memories ... And that took away a lot of time, the time needed to write. So he decided to move to Barcelona, where he has been able to write more calmly and has finished his new collection of stories entitled The king of curves,  next to be edited.

The title of the new book alludes to the fact that the author of A world for Julius y The exaggerated life of Martín RomañaIn his childhood, he made his classmates believe that he was not the son of a shy banker, but of the car racer Arnaldo alvarado nicknamed "the king of curves."

When the mother of Bryce He stopped by the school to pick him up and the children asked him if the story was true, the mother said that if her son said it was true (who can ask for more from one mother?).

The future finds explanations in the past.
