Helene hanff (Philadelphia, 1918 - New York, 1997), a self-taught author, began writing plays, also scripts for television, children's books, historical and political essays. Inspired a movie starring Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins.

The story tells the correspondence started in 1949 by the author from New York to Marks & Co., the bookstore at 84 Charing Cross Road, London. Passionate and manic, the lady Hanff he claims the bookseller Frank doel volumes that are hard to come by and will continue to be written for twenty years, so the familiarity in their tone almost became a privacy loving.

This novel is a small jewel that evokes the place that books and bookstores occupy in our lives.

The tenant by Wildfell Hall

This is the second epistolary novel by Anne Bronte. It was first published in 1848 under the pseudonym Acton Bell and is regarded as a de the first novels agendas.

Epistolary novel written by samuel richardson and published for the first time in 1740. It tells in the first person the story of a virtuous maiden named Pamela andrews and her delicacy and determination to reject her master, Mr. B., who tries to seduce her. Finally, she manages to reform him and he shows his sincerity by proposing to her.

Richardson conceived pamela with purpose dwellsl. It was intended to instruct and entertain at the same time. Today it can be considered as the precursors of etiquette books and Self Help. But as he wrote, the series of letters became history.
