Fnac y Salamandra editions they have summoned the VIII edition of the International Award graphic novel in Spain.

The deadline to register ends on November 28, 2014 and the prize is 10.000 euros for the author of the winning graphic novel. Here you have all the information about the contest:

Base

With the aim of promoting and encouraging literary production in the field of comics, Fnac and Salamandra Graphic convene the XNUMXth edition of the International Graphic Novel Award.

In its first edition (2007), the award went to the author Jorge González, for 'Fueye'. In the second call (2008), the winners were Guillaume Trouillard and Samuel Stento, for 'The station of the arrows'. Esteban Hernández was the winner of the third edition (2009) for '¡Pintor!', And Mireia Pérez in the fourth (2010) for 'The wild girl'. Juan Berrio was the winner for 'Wednesday' in the sixth edition (2011), Sento Llobel awarded in 2012 with 'A novice doctor' and Antonio Hitos in the last edition for 'Inercia', a work that will be edited by Salamandra Graphic at the end of this year.

The deadline for submission of papers is now open and will end on November 28, 2014.

The bases that will govern the award are the following:

Terms of the call

1. All authors who wish to do so, of any nationality or origin, over 18 years of age may be eligible for the Prize, provided that the works they submit conform to the commonly accepted concept of graphic novels and meet the following requirements:

-They are written exclusively in Spanish.
-Be original and rigorously unpublished (not published in book format, electronic book, Internet, or serialized in magazines).
-They do not correspond to the author who has been reported prior to the announcement of this call.
-They have not been previously awarded in any other contest, or are pending a ruling in any other contest on the date the submission period ends.

The works presented that do not meet the above requirements will not be admitted to the contest.

2. Work
The modality to be submitted to the contest is the comic, in its graphic novel format. Each author must send a book proposal with a minimum of sixteen (16) pages finished on one side only; whose final extension, for the winner, will be a minimum of
ninety-six (96) pages. It may be presented in black and white or color, attaching a dossier containing the sixteen (16) finished pages, with their corresponding title, in Madrid, May 26, 2014
Printed copies in DIN-A4 format, plus a detailed synopsis (at least two [2] single-sided pages) with the content of the full story.

Said copies (original work will not be accepted) will be accompanied by the data of the author or authors: name, surname, address, telephone, email and photocopy of the DNI,
passport or any other legally accepted identification document.

Once the Prize has been awarded, the non-awarded works will not be returned. As they are not original, they will be destroyed once the process is finished.

3. Shipping.
The works will be sent or delivered, indicating in the envelope “VIII International Prize for Graphic Novel Fnac-Salamandra Graphic”, at the following postal address: Ediciones Salamandra, c / Hermosilla, 121, 1º B - 28009 Madrid.

Projects sent by email or on media other than printed paper will not be accepted (therefore, shipments on CD, DVD, pen drives or similar are excluded).

4 Deadlines
The deadline for admission of proposals will be closed on Friday, November 28, 2014.

The jury will meet at the end of 2014 and the decision will be announced in January 2015. The winning author will commit to deliver the finished project in the last week of June 2015. The winning work will be published at the end of 2015.

5. Composition of the Jury
The jury will be made up of cultural professionals and will be appointed for this purpose by the promoting entities, which reserve the possibility for a reading committee to select from the originals presented as many finalists as it deems appropriate.

6. Prize and decision of the Jury
Fnac will deliver a single and indivisible prize of 10.000 (ten thousand) euros (to be paid in two payments: 50% of the amount after communication of the ruling; and the remaining 50% at the time of publication). The winning proposal, once fully developed, will be published by the publisher Ediciones Salamandra, upon acceptance by the winner of the terms and conditions established by said publisher for the edition of works. The winner will sign a contract with this publisher for a period of 10 years, renewable and with a royalty percentage of 8%. The concession of
The award means that Ediciones Salamandra will exclusively manage all the exploitation rights of the work, in all countries and for all languages, as well as all publishing rights in all media.

At the same time, Fnac reserves the right to organize with the originals of the winning work an exhibition that could be exhibited in its galleries, both in Spain and abroad. The amount of the prize will be subject to the legislation on withholding tax regulations.

7. Distribution and public presentation
The winning work will be distributed by Ediciones Salamandra and Fnac will guarantee its special implementation and communication in all its commercial spaces.

The fact of taking part in the contest implies the full acceptance of these bases.
