I don't know if I'll be right, but after looking at the past of the great Spanish writers and XNUMXth century literature in general, I have been able to deduce that most of them have had a certain role in the journalistic scene in our country.
This may be the specific case of Azorín, a great writer who has left his mark on our literary legacy. His inheritance, which represents the amount of 6000 articles, is the object of study by all those who dedicate themselves to letters in a professional way. At least that they will try to make clear in the II Azorín international congress, which opens tomorrow in Monóvar the writer Andres Trapiello.
His short and perfectly understandable style gave him an enviable facility to write articles that are easy to understand for all regular readers of the national news and print runs.
However, experts call him an opportunist, which can be perfectly understood if we look at the career and life in general of this author. Everyone can see that he knew how to live and write in both Spains, both the Franco and the one before the Franco, in that sense the experts moderately call him a government writer, since he was always in favor of the government. But if there is something that must be emphasized about the political ideology that accompanied Azorin was central attitude with regard to this issue. Unfortunately, at this time we could not be in the center, since the war gave rise to a choice between one side and another.
Anyway, I think Azorí is worth studying, mainly because of what this conference wants to emphasize, because of his journalistic contribution and his adaptability to the politics of his time, something that was not easy for many writers of the time.
