Kubrick was a film director considered brilliant. His filmography is studied in film schools. His cinematic precision, photographic eye, and exceptional handling of symbolism made him one of the most influential directors of the XNUMXth century.
Born in New York on July 26, died 70 years later in London, March 7th. He made a total of 16 film projects, counting between short films, documentaries and films.
His films, a radical vision of life
Basically all his films can be considered classics of cinema. But among the most famous are: Lolita, based on Nabokov's novel of the same name; Space Odyssey: 2001, which was released a year before the first moon landing and was the only film that won him an Oscar, despite its genius; and A Clockwork Orange, released in 1971.
He was always a controversial director, that he allowed himself to use the cinema to express in the best way his opinion about the world and its events.
Differences between Kubrick and King in The Shining
A few years ago a documentary was made about the photographic direction of: The glow, worn by Stanley Kubrick. This documentary talks about the sharpness of the director and how he uses symbolism to give strength to the story. However, the point that most draws the attention of this recording is the mention of the constant fight between director and writer.
Apparently these geniuses couldn't find a middle ground. This is why King always speaks of this adaptation as one of the worst and does not understand the reason for its success.
The reality is that Kubrick managed to read between the lines the influences of King, and reflected them directly in the film. During the narration of the story, Stephen repeatedly mentions The Red Death, even in the misinterpretation that at some point in the story is given to the threat that the Overlook makes to the Torrance family.
Kubrick uses the waves of blood that run down the elevators to the hotel lobby to power Poe and King's Red Death. In this way Stephen King was exposed as to his influences and perhaps this is the reason why the director and writer made life impossible for themselves during the filming.
