The books that you throw away, others recycle

Did you know that in Ankara (Turkey), garbage cans who collect garbage at night have been recycling each and every one of the creative writing that were being found in the containers? Did you also know that these books that seemed to have no more lives now shine on the shelves of an old factory? Not? Well, if you want to know a little more about this worthy and cultural initiative, keep reading.

Recycled Book Library

Imagine for a moment that you work at night as a garbage man in your city and that in one of those turns with the garbage truck, you find one or two books thrown every night as if it were waste in a plastic bag. What would you do? I suppose the answer would vary depending on the "love" you felt for books ... Isn't it? Well, you can see that Ankara garbage dumpsIn Turkey, they highly value written sheets of literature from all over the world and have been collecting books to create a library with them.

This library was "inaugurated" just 7 months ago and now has a total of 4.750 books to his credit, all collected and collected from the trash during his working hours. Said library was placed in a old factory that had been abandoned for more than 20 years. Now, this library is not only used to borrow books and enjoy them at home for 15 days, but when the garbage men gather, to rest or spend a day together, they do it there and in addition to reading they play chess.

Although in principle it was made thinking above all about them and their relatives, right now the library is a public place that you could access without any problem if you wanted to borrow one of their books.

The best thing is not the volume that they already have recycled but that in boxes they expect even more than 1.500 copies to be placed.

What do you think of this wonderful initiative? Do you think that in your country you could see the same or similar initiative today?
