The 5 best love poems

The 5 best love poems

Painting «The Kiss» by Gustav Klimt

They say that what is understood today by love is not true love ... That love was a thing of the past when couples lasted more years together and "forgiven" more things. Talking about love and qualifying it or not as such is a "tricky" topic because no one should be able to judge by how one or the other feels and with what intensity they do it, since only oneself can know it ...

But ... why am I talking about love on a page of literature? Because even if it is not Valentine's Day, I found it nice to gather today what I consider the 5 best love poems of all time. A totally subjective article but with a clear intention: Exaltation of love and poetry.

Breastplate Heart (Mario Benedetti)

Because I have you and not
because I think about you
because the night is wide-eyed
because the night passes and I say love
because you have come to collect your image
and you're better than all your pictures
because you are beautiful from the foot to the soul
because you are good from the soul to me
because you hide sweet in pride
sweet little
heart shell
because you are mine
because you are not mine
because I look at you and die
and worse than dying
if I don't look at you love
if i don't look at you
because you always exist wherever
but you exist better where I love you
because your mouth is blood
and you are cold
I have to love you love
I have to love you
although this wound hurts like two
even if I look for you and do not find you
and although
the night passes and I have you
and not.

Top 5 Love Poems - The Kiss - Théophile Alexander Steilen

Painting «The Kiss» by Théophile Alexander Steilen

I love you at ten in the morning (Jaime Sabines)

I love you at ten in the morning, and at eleven,
and at twelve o'clock. I love you with all my soul and
with my whole body, sometimes, in rainy afternoons.
But at two in the afternoon, or at three, when I
I think about the two of us, and you think about the
food or daily work, or amusements
that you don't have, I start to hate you deafly, with
half the hate I keep for myself.
Then I love you again, when we go to bed and
I feel that you are made for me, that somehow
your knee and your belly tell me that my hands
convince me of it, and that there is no other place in
where I come, where I go, better than you
Body. You come whole to meet me, and
we both disappear for a moment, we get into
in the mouth of God, until I tell you that I have
hungry or sleepy.

Every day I love you and I hate you hopelessly.
And there are days too, there are hours, when not
I know you, in that you are alien to me like the woman
of another, I worry about men, I worry
I am distracted by my sorrows. You probably don't think
in you for a long time. You see who
could I love you less than I love my?

If you love me, love me whole (Dulce María Loynaz)

If you love me, love me whole
not by areas of light or shadow ...
If you love me, love me black
and white, and gray, green, and blonde,
and brunette ...
Love me day,
love me night ...
And early in the morning at the open window! ...

If you love me, don't cut me off:
Love me all ... Or don't love me!

The 5 best love poems - The kiss - René Magritte

Painting «The Kiss» by Rene Magritte

I can write the saddest verses tonight ... (Pablo Neruda)

I can write the saddest verses tonight.

Write, for example: «The night is starry,
and the stars shiver in the distance, blue. "

The night wind turns in the sky and sings.

I can write the saddest verses tonight.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.

On nights like this I held her in my arms.
I kissed her so many times under the infinite sky.

She loved me, sometimes I also loved her.
How not to have loved her great still eyes.

I can write the saddest verses tonight.
To think that I do not have her. Feeling I've lost her.

Hear the inmense night, even more without her.
And the verse falls to the soul like dew to grass.

Does it matter that my love could not keep it.
The night is full of stars and she is not with me.

That's it. In the distance someone sings. In the distance.
My soul is not content with having lost it.

As if to bring her closer, my gaze seeks her.
My heart looks for her, and she is not with me.

The same night whitening the same trees.
We, the ones then, are not the same.

I don't love her anymore, it's true, but how much I loved her.
My voice searched the wind to touch her ear.

Of other. Will be from another. As before my kisses.
Her voice, her bright body. His infinite eyes.

I don't love her anymore, it's true, but maybe I do.
Love is so short, and forgetting is so long.

Because on nights like this I held her in my arms
My soul is not content with having lost it.

Although this is the last pain that she causes me,
and these are the last verses that I write.

Eternal love (Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer)

The sun may cloud forever;
The sea may dry in an instant;
The axis of the Earth may be broken
Like a weak crystal.
It will all happen! Will death
Cover me with his funeral crepe;
But never in me can it go out
The flame of your love.

And of these, which is the poem that you liked the most? What is your favorite love poem?

Poetry of Bécquer

I stay by tradition, history and encounter, with Neruda; but for identity and passion I stop by Sabines.
What a risk you run when selecting these monuments to words and idyll.
I took the risk and enjoyed it.

  6.   Jorge Roses said

I read Becquer when I was young, then the others. In all of them I have always found verses stolen from Becquer, especially Neruda. It is not easy at all to create a sublime poem, sometimes it can only be updated to the classics, although that is not easy to achieve either.

    1.    John Harold Perez said

Love or whim determines me for you, to conquer your moments.
And I determined why I surrendered to your silence, to your laugh, your elegance and to imagine your body.

Love or whim, I surrendered to dream of your kisses, to achieve more hugs, to win your company and I dreamed of staying in your thoughts.

Today I know what your most special hugs are and I know the quality of your kisses.

And yet I feel like at the beginning, because we have advanced in many things, and now I dream of your company, of your hours. With you by my side accompanying me and laughing.

But your time is not your time ...
And I think of you all day ignorant of whether you also conquered your thought

It is the beauty of poetry, that there will always be someone who will take us to other magical realities, with just a few verses, some white others pure, How different would the world be if there were more HUMANS like them and some others who saw another world within this world. Well, everyone is right about famous poets, but there are others who are not famous and actually write poems that are even more romantic than famous ones, example:
Joan Mengual - I give you a rose

    Today I bring a rose
    that bears no thorns,
to give it to you woman,
    for believing in me,
    because you are my friend,
    faithful lover and companion.

And thank you all very much for reading me. Greetings

I have always been attracted to the poetry aroused by the soul resigned to the pain of a past experience. And in that sense the poem by Amado Nervo entitled Cowardice comes to mind:
It happened with his mother. What rare beauty!
    What blond garzul wheat hair!
What a rhythm in step! What innate royalty
sport! What shapes under the fine tulle ...
It happened with his mother. He turned his head:
He fixed me with his blue gaze!
I was in ecstasy ... With feverish haste,
"Follow her!" Cried body and soul alike.
... But I was afraid to love madly,
to open my wounds, which usually bleed,
And despite all my thirst for tenderness,
closing my eyes, I let her pass!

always when reading the lines of a writer, they vibrate the most sensitive of my heart

The 5 poems, of different authorship and free structure in the elaboration, with the common denominator to Love between couples, each one of analysis and reflection to understand the poet and poet, I highlight the freedom to pour emotional thoughts through erotic feelings, of passion, experiences and longings.
What technique did they use to write these poems, that of Benedetti and Sabines and of literary currents? Thanks for informing.

Obviously I felt things for you ... I still feel them, you know that I love you and what I experienced with you was incredible, I came to want you so much that when I had you in my arms I did not want to leave you, but I was always the second in your life and my wishes of being able to love you, they were always present although I could not always touch you ... You were a moment in my life, that moment which filled me with joy. It was time to forget you, but my feelings made me move on and wait for the right moment to try to love you again ... I always came to think that there was going to be a moment in our lives and we would try again to reconcile and recover all those beautiful moments that we live without import the thought of anyone .. All these five poems are truly extraordinary, but in the world of romance, no matter how hard you want to put them, only two shine with extreme height, and they are Neruda and Gustavo Becker.
The poem quoted here by Neruda is incredible but it also has others even higher. Benedetty kind of strings together a lot of phrases and still easy words. I was surprised by Loynaz's poem and of the five Sabines he takes fifth place.

    1.    Xabier said

The five poems are gorgeous. Let's not make comparisons. Let's be positive, and give freedom to our sleeping poet. The human being needs the sensitivity that poetry has. Love, please.

I liked all the poems because when you analyze it you realize that they are a jewel but my favorite love poem is the golden hedgehog of DADH
which is about a representation of his beloved in an anima and he knows that many people love her but that he specifically loves her more than anyone else.

The first verse goes something like this:

    coveted by many
    seen by few
    obtained for less
    that's the golden hedgehog.

This poem is very basic but it represents the sad and poor longing that this boy has for her.

Maybe I'm the problem, but no matter how much I read them, I can't find anything in the poems.
I don't see that magic rhyme for the ear, which I do find in many other poems and in many lyrics by singer-songwriters.
But as I say, I must be the "weird."
I often write poems other than these, where I give puns and acoustics more priority than the "cloying" of love.

  35.   Oscar said

Those poems are from when poetry was made. It is still done, but there are also certain current "poetic" currents that are capable of leading us to a psychoanalyst ... Why write something that nobody will understand? Anyway, there who reads it ...

It is love. I will have to hide or flee.
The walls of his prison grow, as in an atrocious dream.
The beautiful mask has changed, but as always it is the only one […]
To be with you or not to be with you
it is the measure of my time […]
    It is, I know, love:
the anxiety and relief of hearing your voice,
    hope and memory,
    the horror of living hereafter.
It is love with its mythologies,
    with their useless little magics.
Now the armies are getting closer, the hordes..
The name of a woman betrays me.
A woman hurts all over my body ».

    *Tactics and strategy*

    my tactic is
    look at you
    learn how you are
    love you as you are

    my tactic is
    talk to you
    and listen to you
    build with words
    an indestructible bridge.

    my tactic is
    stay in your memory
    I don't know how I don't know
    with what pretext
    but stay with you

    my tactic is
    be frank
and know that you are frank
and that we do not sell ourselves
    drills
    so that between the two
    there is no curtain
    no abysses

    my strategy is
    instead
    deeper and more
    simple.

    my strategy is
    that any other day
    I don't know how I don't know
    with what pretext
    you finally need me
