As you probably already know many, in about a week, specifically next Sunday, October 15, the Planet Awards 2017. AND Actualidad Literatura will be there to cover them! Our colleague Diana Millar will be responsible for reporting on each event that happens there: finalist works, winner, finalist, etc.
The Planeta Awards are awards, for those who do not know them yet, of considerable national recognition and are known above all for their wonderful award. As the awards themselves indicate in their announcement bases, it will be awarded, as winner, prize of 601.000 euros to the novel that is considered more deserving. And also, a second prize de 150.250 euros for the finalist novel. Both economic endowments will be considered an advance on account of the assignment of the exploitation rights of the winning works and second prize.
In previous years ...
Last year the winner of the Planeta Prize was Dolores Round with his work «All this I will give you». On the other hand, the finalist was Mark Chicot with "The murder of Socrates".
Who will be the lucky one this year? The October 15 we will know. We remember that this gala, as in previous years, will take place at the Palace of Congresses of Catalonia, this being the 66th Edition of the Planeta Awards. A multitude of writers participate in this contest, regardless of their nationality, presenting original, unpublished novels written in Spanish.
El jury It will be made up of seven prestigious personalities of Spanish literature, who have been freely designated by Editorial Planeta SA. Some names may sound familiar to you: Alberto Blecua, Fernando Delgado, Juan Eslava Galán, Pere Gimferrer, Carmen Posadas, Rosa Regàs and Emili Rosales, as voting secretary.
