"Children of Wrath" by Dámaso Alonso

Damaso alonso publishes with great value a book called "Sons of Wrath" that gives a complete turn to the poetry of that time. Published in 1944, in the midst of the fascist dictatorship, in this work, in addition to the lexical and metric renovations, a thematic renewal is observed based on the presence of the injustices of the moment that are exposed and denounced in this work of incalculable value and that broke with poetry. of evasion that was at the service of the Franco regime.

La distress of being a man is felt in this work. Being a man is a mystery, but so is God, far from being the answer to everything that the official poets of that time proposed. Death is present as an irrevocable destiny and at the same time as the only valid way out of a gray existence that at that time was compulsory for all Spaniards.

And it is that individuals felt alone in an increasingly degraded society and only the love of a woman could provide them with some company and moments of lucidity in a unfair society in which interpersonal relationships also used to be flawed, further exacerbating the so-called loneliness that gives way to an inner emptiness that permeates everything.
