News in the presentation of the XVII Salón del Manga

Last one Manga Hall held in La Farga de L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, and not because there will not be a new edition next year, but because after 13 years, the event will move to a place where there is more space, more specifically to the Palace nº 8 of Fira de Barcelona. That is what the people of ficomic in the presentation. Below I reproduce the Press release where that and another series of details are given:

THE SAMURAIS WILL INVADE THE XVII SALON DEL MANGA. Today the XVII edition of the Manga Fair was presented, which will be held from Saturday, October 29 to Tuesday, November 1 at La Farga de L'Hospitalet (Barcelona), at a press conference held at Casa Asia Barcelona. Juan Álvarez Carrasco, author of this year's poster; Menene Gras, Director of Culture and Exhibitions at Casa Asia Barcelona; and Carles Santamaria, director of the Salón del Manga, who gave a preview of what will be seen at the event.

At the press conference, Menene Gras highlighted, in addition to the collaboration between Casa Asia and Cine Asia with the Manga Fair, “The ability of the contest to attract a wide variety of audiences of different ages each year and in a volume that few events succeed ”. Juan Álvarez Carrasco, speaking about the origin of the poster, has confessed that, “Like many other young people, I entered the manga thanks to Dragon Ball. Not being able to use any known characters to do the illustration, I relied on the legend of the Monkey King that Toriyama relied on for the series. Hence the monkey on a cloud that appears on the poster ”.

This year the main theme of the Manga Hall will revolve around the samurai. In this way, in the words of Carles Santamaria "The Hall pays a well-deserved tribute to the figure of these characters who have inspired manga, anime and films around the world." Precisely this year the Manga Hall invites Hiroshi Hirata, considered a master of the genre, and one of the authors who has best portrayed feudal Japan in manga. The Samurai de papel exhibition will feature, among many other works, originals of some of his best-known works. Along with a veteran author like Hirata, Kazue Kato will also attend, a young and brilliant author, who has achieved great success among manga and anime fans with her work Blue Exorcist, a title that she will present in this edition of the Manga Fair. .

The emotional note came when, in response to a question from the press about the La Farga space, Carles Santamaria confirmed that this would be the last year that the Salón del Manga would be held in L'Hospitalet. “Change hurts us a lot. It has been thirteen years in which the Show has become an international benchmark, but the formula of the three venues is now exhausted. The venue has become too small, which led us, even in a period of crisis, to not being able to hire more exhibitors. Starting next year, attendees will be able to celebrate the great manga festival at the Fira de Barcelona Palace No. 8, the same one where the Comic Fair is held ”.

The XVII SALÓN DEL MANGA, which will be held from Saturday, October 29 to Tuesday, November 1, will repeat the three venues of the last editions. La Farga de L'Hospitalet will host the exhibiting companies in addition to spaces dedicated to video games, traditional and manga games workshops, an exhibition hall, Japanese classes, conferences and round tables. Karaoke, cosplay and World Cosplay Summit contests will take place at the Poliesportiu del Center, as well as musical performances. And in the Sala Barradas you will be able to follow the screenings of films and series. These three spaces, very close to each other, will be connected by a free bus service.
