Welcome April! And like every month, at the beginning of it, we bring you some national literary competitions, and this time in particular, for the month of April. Remember that to participate you must read the bases of the same well and comply with each and every one of the requirements that are requested. Good luck!

7th Diari de Terrasa short story contest

  • Genre: Story
  • Prize:  € 500 as first prize; second prize an HP tablet and third prize an HP printer.
  • Open to everyone

  • Closing date: 04/04/2016

Base

  • I will take part Anyone with the exception of the workforce and management of Diari de Terrassa.
  • The text of free themeIt must be written in Catalan or Spanish and it must comply with the rules of the contest.
  • A maximum of three texts per participant, always unpublished and that have arrived at the headquarters of Diari de Terrassa before midnight on the last day of admission of originals, April 24.00, 4.
  • La extension The minimum of the stories will be 200 words and the maximum 350 words.
  • The stories will have to be signed with a pseudonym at the end of the text. The same pseudonym will have to appear in the mandatory form for submitting the story to the contest that has to be carried out through the website: www.diarideterrassa.es and in the banner Seventh short story contest.
  • Those who make the delivery at the headquarters of the Diari de Terrassa, or by mail, the address is: Vallhonrat 45, 08221 de Terrassa, Barcelona. They will also have to sign the story with a pseudonym and on a separate sheet provide the name, surname, address, telephone, e-mail, age and pseudonym used in their story.
  • The winning stories will be published on the Diari de Terrassa culture pages on the date that will be announced on the award ceremony, which will be announced in due course through the newspaper and its website.
  • The Awards They are divided into two categories: Catalan and Spanish. For each category the prizes are: First prize, 500 euros in cash; second prize, an HP tablet and third prize, HP multifunction printer.

XXI Young Athenaeum Novel Award

  • Genre: Novel
  • Prize: 6.000 euros and edition
  • Open to: writers born after January 1, 1981
  • Organizing entity: Excmo. Athenaeum of Seville and Algaida Editores
  • Country of the convening entity: Spain
  • Closing date: 07/04/2016

Base

  • They will be able to choose writers born after January 1, 1981, with original and unpublished novels in Castilian.
  • El prize, 6.000 euros, guaranteed by the Athenaeum of Seville, may not be declared void or divided, and will be delivered as an advance of copyright, in accordance with current taxation.
  • La extension It shall not be less than 150 A-4 pages, typed, double-spaced, in duplicate and bound. They will be presented before April 8, 2016 at the Ateneo de Sevilla (Orfila 7, 41003 Sevilla) or at Algaida Editores (Avda. San Francisco Javier 22, 5th floor, 41018 Sevilla), specifying “XXI Young Ateneo de Novela Award”.
  • The works will be presented signed by the author, or with a pseudonym and escrow. Likewise, a brief curriculum of the author and a certification that the rights of the work are not compromised, nor pending resolution in another contest.
  • El Jury's decision, final, will be made public in Seville in June 2016.
  • Algaida Editores, through its editorial services and with the collaboration of Ámbito Cultural, will select the finalist novels on which the Jury will decide. The list of these and the members of the Jury will be made public before the decision.
  • In the publishing contract, the awarded author will assign to Algaida Editores, exclusively and for the whole world, the rights to exploit the work, including translations and audiovisuals, as well as the management of agreements with third parties for other exploitations. Algaida may carry out, for fifteen years, the editions it deems appropriate of the work, as well as the number of copies, price and distribution, the author receiving 10% of the PVP of the copies sold, 5% of the PVP in pocket (taxes excluded) and 20% of the net income obtained for the digital edition, and no amount is accrued until the advance is covered.
  • Algaida Editores may publish the non-award-winning works that may be of interest to them, with prior agreement with their authors. The rest of the non-awarded originals will be destroyed, and no correspondence will be maintained on them.
  • Participation in the contest implies the acceptance of the bases and the author's commitment not to withdraw the work before the ruling, accept the prize if it were granted and sign as many documents as necessary to comply with the base 7, as well as participate with their presence in the promotional campaign designed by the publisher. For any controversy that had to be settled by judicial means, the parties renounce their own jurisdiction and submit to the Courts and Tribunals of Seville.

IV Short Story Contest "Villa de Sabiote"

  • Open to: Spaniards or residents of Spain

  • Closing date: 08/04/2016

Base

  • Participants: Authors of any age, Spanish or resident in Spain, can be submitted.
  • Categories: Two categories are established, one general and the other school for contestants aged between 12 and 18 years.
  • Theme: The subject of the stories is free and the works, written in Spanish, must be unpublished and not awarded.
  • Extension: The minimum length will be twenty lines and the maximum two pages in DIN A-4 format, written on one side, double-spaced, with a Times New Roman 12 font size and 2 cm margins. in any of its dimensions.
  • Presentation: A copy of the work will be sent, directly in a sealed envelope or by post, to the General Registry of the Hon. Sabiote Town Hall, located in Plaza de la Villa, number 1; 23410 Sabiote.
    The envelope may not include identification of the sender, only the title of the story will be indicated and the addition of the word "school" will be taken into account if participating in that category, in order to contemplate the story.
  • Identification data: Along with the copy, a small closed envelope must be delivered, on the outside of which the title of the story will also appear, and inside which will include a photocopy of the author's ID as well as a sheet with the following author data: name, surname, postal address, address email and contact telephone number.
  • Delivery deadlines: The delivery period begins on January 11, 2.016 and will end on April 8 of the same year.
  • Jury: The Jury will be made up of the teaching staff belonging to the Department of Language and Literature of the IES "Iulia Salaria" of Sabiote, as well as members of the Sectorial Council of Culture and Heritage of this City Council. The jury may declare any of the established prizes void.
  • Failure: The jury's decision will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2.016 and will be communicated by email to all participants and published on the website of the Sabiote City Council.
  • Awards: A prize is established for each category: € 300 for the general category; € 100 in material for the school category.
  • Use of the awarded works: The two winning works will be published by the Sabiote City Council on its website and other media deemed appropriate. The authors assign all rights to publication for one year from the date of the jury's decision.
  • Awards: The awards ceremony will take place in a literary act coinciding with the celebration in the town of "Day of the book" whose date and place will be announced in due course.

III "Treciembre" National Poetry Prize

  • Genre: Poetry
  • Prize: edition and trophy
  • Open to: no restrictions
  • Organizing entity: Friday of Sarmiento
  • Country of the convening entity: Spain
  • Closing date: 10/04/2016

Base

  • Extension: As many poets as they wish may compete, as long as their works, written in Spanish, are original and unpublished and have not been awarded in previous editions of the contest. The minimum length will be 500 verses and the maximum 700, the calculation being based on the criteria of the jury for books that are written in whole or in part in poetic prose.
  • Theme: Both the theme and the procedure will be the author's absolute freedom.
  • Presentation:  The works will be presented typed, in triplicate duly stitched, stapled or bound. The originals will be presented without signing, by the motto and escrow system, including in a sealed envelope the author's address, telephone number, copy of the DNI, as well as a brief bio-bibliographic note. The original, its copies and the escrow must be sent by mail to: C / Santiago, No. 17 - 7.º B - 47001 Valladolid, indicating on the envelope the competition for the award.
  • Deadlines: The admission period will be closed on April 10, 2016. Those works that bear the original postmark with a date equal to or prior to the aforementioned will be admitted.
  • Endowment:  The award will be endowed with the edition of the book and one hundred copies of it, as well as a trophy accrediting the award. The prize-winning poet agrees to receive it personally during a cultural event organized by Friday de Sarmiento on May 13, 2016. The organization reserves the publication of the second edition of the award-winning book, also reserving the publication of subsequent editions .
  • Failure: The award decision will be made public on April 23, 2016. The jury may also declare the award void.
  • Legal Considerations: There will be no correspondence or communication with the authors of the books presented. The non-awarded works will not be returned and will be destroyed in the ten days following the jury's decision. The presentation of works for this Award implies the total acceptance by their authors of these rules, as well as the jury's decision, which will be final.
