INTERVIEW WITH JORGE MOLIST

  • ACTUALIDAD LITERATURA: Do you remember the first book you read? And the first story you wrote?

JORGE MOLIST: Well the first book must have been one of those stories with cutout silhouette popular in the fifties: The chestnut tree, The little sheep, etc. Later, in the municipal children's library, I read Babar, Clink, Salgari, July Verne...

The first story I remember writing was a story about a magical moment where their from a store antiquarian they came to life and philosophized. He won an award in high school. They gave me a book titled Heritage in Africa, which obviously I keep with affection. I had twelve years.

  • AL: What was the first book that struck you and why?

JM: It is difficult to answer because many have impacted me. Suppose it was The secret of the unicornby Tintin.

  • AL: Who is your favorite writer? You can choose more than one and from all eras.

JM: It's hard to say because I have so many. And I'd rather mention favorite works than writers. But let's start with Homer, in ancient times, let us continue by Joanot of Martorell in the Middle Ages and a Ken follet in our time.

  • AL: What character in a book would you have liked to meet and create?

JM: William of Baskerville de The Name of the Rose. Definitely.

  • AL: Any mania when it comes to writing or reading?

JM: None. As both are inalienable vices for me, I write and read wherever and however.

  • AL: And your preferred place and time to do it?

JM: I started writing, a bit seriously, to give myself after work. And since at that time I traveled a lot, read and wrote in the plane, in the hotels, in the train or in the most unexpected places. Today in day any place still good. But, without the pressure of sticking to a strict work schedule, I like to do it. in the bed, right after waking up or before going to sleep.

  • AL: What writer or book has influenced your work as an author?

JM: Many, I can't mention one in particular. From Homer with the Odisea e Iliad, to Ken Follet with The pillars of the earth, passing through Walter Scott with Ivanhoe: The doctor, by Noah Gordon, Pérez Galdós and many more.

  • AL: Your favorite genres besides historical?

JM: I have no Favorite genre, apart from the historical one. What I do have is a great curiosity and desire to learn, which leads me to read a lot test, especially historical. But i read All that which falls into my hands and has the power to to hook.

  • AL: What are you reading now? And writing?

JM: Well, at this alternate moment three creative writing: one on the daily life of the fourteenth century, from Montserrat Rumbau, another about Templars, de Helen nicholson, and a third from the XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries supposedly autobiographical entitled Life of this captain, Alonso de Contreras.

I am now writing a history of thirteenth century what has to do with him Temple and Mediterranean coast.

  • AL: How do you think the publishing scene is for as many authors as there are or want to publish?

JM: It is good that there is a lot of author you want to post. From there will come quality stories. For the authors it is hard, but the quality, value that is offered to the reader, is fundamental. Because readers decide each day they spend their leisure time. If they are offered exciting books, will choose to read before television, video games or any other entertainment.

  • AL: Is the moment of crisis that we are experiencing being difficult for you or will you get something positive out of it for future novels?

JM: Everything contributes in life if we strive to bring out the positive. I don't know if this experience will contribute to my future novels, but you have to live it and survive it.
