INTERVIEW

  • ACTUALIDAD LITERATURA: Do you remember the first book you read? And the first story you wrote?

LUIS ZUECO: As a child I read a lot. I was lucky that my family provided me with books of all kinds. From a very young age I read mystery stories, Also to Asterix y history books. Before being a writer, I am a reader, and that is also reflected in my novels.

  • AL: What was the first book that struck you and why?

LZ: The first one that marked me was One Hundred Years of Solitudeby Gabriel García Márquez. It's a novel sublime, only within the reach of a genius. I learned the first pages by heart and I still remember part.

  • AL: Who is your favorite writer? You can choose more than one and from all eras.

LZ: This one is easy: Gabriel García Márquez.

  • AL: What character in a book would you have liked to meet and create?

LZ: A character that has always fascinated me is Ulises. I like the classic heroes and their adventures.

  • AL: Any mania when it comes to writing or reading?

LZ: Before none, over the years I am adding alguna little. It is more difficult for me to write and read with noise around me, before I had no problem.

  • AL: And your preferred place and time to do it?

LZ: By the morning. The site is indifferent to me as long as there is silence.

  • AL: What writer or book has influenced your work as an author?

LZ: Perhaps the most Umberto Eco y The Name of the Rose.

  • AL: Your favorite genres besides historical?

LZ: Now Novelty. I read all that I can. Before I read a lot of poetry, now I don't. And the essays depends on whether you find one interesting.

  • AL: What are you reading now? And writing?

LZ: I am rereading The heretic, of Delibes, and typing a couple of novels, a medieval and another of eighteenth century. Soon I will decide with which of the two I continue.

  • AL: How do you think the publishing scene is for as many authors as there are or want to publish?

LZ: Hard, it is published too. That does not benefit anyone. We should all be traditional patients with the books.

  • AL: Is the moment of crisis that we are experiencing being difficult for you or will you be able to keep something positive for future novels?

LZ: It's being very hard. I am optimistic, But No. I think it can be taken out a lot positive. What you do have to do is remember lor that we are suffering to be better prepared the next time something similar happens. When now in a novel we speak of a disease as terrible as this, we will do so with first-hand knowledge. Of the little positive that I see is that the books have helped people to wear it better. I am sure many have recovered el habit of the reading.
