Third Rioplatense Poetry Contest in Decimas (Argentina / Uruguay)

  • Genre: Poetry
  • Award: Badge and diploma
  • Open to: Poets from Uruguay and Argentina

Base

  • The Third Rioplatense Poetry Contest in Decimas 2016, is open for poets from Uruguay and Argentina, Except for the members of the organizing group, and each author may participate with a poem that has not received a prize or mention in another contest.
  • The stanza construction will be in: tenth called “Spinel”, with consonant rhyme, octosyllable measure and with a minimum extension of three tenths and a maximum of six. The subject will be free and no fee is charged.
  • The works must be sent by post  to Avellaneda 395. CP 7100 DOLORES (Argentina) or General Artigas 154 CP 27.000 ROCHA (Uruguay).
  • They can also be sent by email: certamendecimeros@yahoo.com   with two attachments. In one, the work will be identified with the title and pseudonym, and in the other, the author's data (Title of the work, pseudonym (it should not be a proper name), names and surnames, document number, address, city of residence and country , telephone and Mail.
  • Awards. There will be three awards consisting of plaque and diploma respectively, and the mentions that the jury considers (medals and diplomas).
  • The jury will take into account to rule, spelling, originality of the subject, the use of language, correct use of the consonant rhyme, the meter and the poetic resources used. Rhymes failure-lightning, horse-sideways, mayo-rooster, etc. will not be accepted.
  • The deadline for the presentation of the works will expire on March 10, 2016 and the awards ceremony will take place at the House of Culture of the Uruguayan city of Libertad, department of San José on the date that will be communicated to the winners.
  • The name of the awarded author that will be put on plaques and diplomas will be the one that appears on the DNI or CI, artistic name not being accepted.
  • The fact of participating implies accepting the conditions of these bases, and any unforeseen matter will be resolved by the organizers in agreement with the jury. Any point of these bases that is not respected will be grounds for disqualification of the work.

Exmolino Poetry Call (Mexico)

The main objective is to edit and produce a collection of poetry that points to a selection with the following characteristics:

  • Current poetry of Mexico - Spain.
  • Poetry by young authors (less than 35 years old).
  • Unpublished poetry.
  • The selection will be 16 authors, 8 Mexican and 8 Spanish, and gender equity will be addressed.
  • The book will feature the participation of an outstanding visual artist.
  1. A book will be published with the best poems received.
  2.  Poets of Mexican and Spanish nationality between 18 and 35 years of age may participate.
  3. Each author may present from three to nine poems with a maximum length of thirty-five lines each.
  4. The works presented will have a structure of poetry or poetic prose, the theme chosen, as well as the style, being free by the participants
  5. The poems must be original and unpublished and not previously awarded.

  7. The result will be announced on March 21, 2016 and the award will consist of the publication of a poetry collection or anthology and 5 copies will be delivered to each of the poets to be published.

  9. The award ceremony will take place at an event organized at the Spain Cultural Center in Mexico for this purpose in 2016 and will be announced in advance to the winners to facilitate their presence and publicized in the local media and on the Internet.

XV Jose Eustasio Rivera International Novel Biennial (Colombia)

  • The deadline for sending the novels expires on March 23, 2016, the ruling will be announced on August 23 of the same year and the awards will be held at the headquarters of the Tierra de Promisión Foundation on the 21st of October 2016 in a special ceremony that will be attended by the winner of the contest, the three finalists, the members of the jury, the organizers of the literary award, the main authorities of the city, special guests and different media.
  • The Qualifying Jury, made up of three prominent writers from Colombia and abroad, whose names will be announced at the time of issuing the ruling - a decision that may be unanimous or by majority -, will award a single indivisible prize of 80 legal minimum wages in force. .
  • The jury may select up to three finalists, who will be invited to the special awards ceremony and will receive a medal and a scroll.
  • An award-winning work will be first edition of 1.000 copies to be delivered at the special awards ceremony. Of these, 200 will be for the winner of the XV International Novel Biennial, 200 for the Ministry of Culture of the Municipality of Neiva, and the surplus for the Tierra de Promisión Foundation, who will be in charge of distributing them among literature teachers, universities , newspapers, magazines, libraries and institutions of a cultural nature in the region and the country.

XIV Lincoln Poetry Contest - Martí 2016 (USA)

  • They will be able to participate in the contest all poets who present unpublished poetry in Spanish, without distinction of nationality, age, race, religion or other reason of limitation or discrimination.
  • Poems previously published or that have participated in other contests will not be accepted. Only unpublished poetry in the Spanish language. The participation of poets whose compositions have been awarded in any of the first three places in previous contests sponsored by these organizers will not be allowed.
  • The poems will be presented in three typed copies, two spaces on one side of the paper. Compositions written by hand or via cybernetics will not be considered.
  • The three copies of the poem will appear signed with a motto or pseudonym for identification, being prohibited any sign that may discover the contestant. The full name, address and telephone number of the author, as well as the title of the poem, will be recorded in another sealed envelope whose exterior will exclusively include the motto or pseudonym used by said author as the signature of his poem. Each envelope will display a single motto or pseudonym on the outside and contain a single poem. To avoid any identification, the senders will put the pseudonym they use on the shipping envelope, and not their real name, which will only appear on the sealed envelope that goes inside.

Metallic prizes will only be awarded to poets from countries whose circumstances allow it.
  • The jury will be made up of no less than three members of recognized cultural performance, designated by the sponsors. Neither the organizers nor the jury will correspond with the participants. The presentation to the contest implies the acceptance of these rules. Any unforeseen event that is not established in these bases will be interpreted and resolved solely and exclusively by the organizing institutions of the contest.
  • The decisions of the jury will be final and the contestant poems will be the property of the organizers, who are free to reproduce them. The award, or any of them, may be declared void or divided, at the judgment of the jury. It is essential to be present at the event to receive each of the prizes assigned to the first three places.
