First International Comic Prize of Planeta DeAgostini

Planet DeAgostini summons your First International Comic Prize with the aim of promoting the creation of high-level projects in the field of comics. The winning project will be published by Planeta DeAgostini Cómics and will be endowed with a prize of 20.000 euros.

FIRST INTERNATIONAL COMIC PLANET DEAGOSTINI PRIZE

Editorial Planeta DeAgostini, SA, in order to promote international comic strip projects of a high graphic and narrative level, announces its First Planeta DeAgostini International Comic Prize, the announcement of which will be governed according to the following bases:

AUTHORS:

1.- Any person of any nationality may participate in this contest. In the event that the participant is a minor not emancipated in their country of origin, an express authorization from the legal representatives (guardians / parents) must be included for participation in this award as well as the commitment to sign the assignment contract. of exploitation rights of the work, in the event that it is the winner.

2.- A project carried out by a single author or by several member authors may be submitted, their tasks divided between scriptwriters, illustrators, inkers and colorists, who will be considered co-authors.

3.- The authors or co-authors participating in the award undertake not to present their project to other competitions until the failure of the latter is known.

PLAYS:

4.- The work projects to be presented for the award must meet the following requirements:

- Works written in any of these languages: Spanish, English, French or Italian.
- Original and unpublished works, that is, not published in book, electronic, internet or serialized format in magazines.
- Works not awarded in other competitions or in the process of failure in other competitions.
- The style, treatment and genres of the works will be totally free.
- Only one work per author or co-authors may be submitted.
- Works must have a minimum of 46 pages for one side of comic strips, there being no maximum.

AUTHORITY, ORIGINALITY AND DISCLOSURE OF THE WORK:
5.- Participation in the contest implies knowledge and acceptance of these rules, as well as:
• The guarantee by the participant, with full indemnity for Editorial Planeta DeAgostini, SA, of the authorship and originality of the work presented and that it is not a copy or partial or total modification of any work of its own or of others.
• The guarantee by the participant, with full indemnity for Editorial Planeta DeAgostini, SA, of the unpublished nature of the work presented throughout the world and of exclusive ownership without charge or limitation of all exploitation rights over the work.

• The consent of the participant to the reproduction, distribution and public communication of the work presented in the event of being awarded.

PRESENTATION FORMAT:

6.- Originals will not be accepted, only copies in DIN A4 size, indicating on a separate sheet the name of the author or names of the co-authors and contact information (address, telephone and email).

7.- It is necessary to include a photocopy of a valid national identity document from the country of residence of the author or co-authors. In the case of being a minor / is not emancipated in the country of residence, the legal representatives must also present a copy of the national identity document.

8.- For the correct evaluation of the project, a complete synopsis is required in a maximum of two sheets written in Spanish, English, French or Italian, as well as a minimum of eight pages of comic strips already completed with their corresponding script.

9.- The works projects, in the indicated format and with the data and documents specified in points 5, 6 and 7 above, will be sent to Planeta DeAgostini Cómics in a sealed envelope, indicating in the same "First International Prize of Planeta DeAgostini Comic ”, to the following postal address:

PRIZE:

10.- The winner will be awarded to the work that is considered to have the greatest merit in terms of the jury's votes. The award involves the publication of the work and is endowed with TWENTY THOUSAND EUROS (20.000.- euros), paid in two parts, 30% upon signing the corresponding publishing contract and 70% upon the final delivery of the material to be published . The amount of the prize is subject to the current legislation regarding withholdings indicated by the tax regulations. This amount is considered as an advance of the copyright generated by the work.

11.- Editorial Planeta DeAgostini, SA (Comics) will have, exclusively and by contract, all exploitation rights over the work worldwide for 10 years.

12.- Editorial Planeta DeAgostini, SA (Comics) reserves the right to negotiate with other non-awarded authors the possibility of publishing their works, if it is in the interest of the publisher.

ASSIGNMENT OF EXPLOITATION RIGHTS

13.- The awarding of the prize implies that the awarded author or co-authors exclusively assign to Editorial Planeta DeAgostini, SA all the exploitation rights of the work, in all countries and for all the languages ​​of the world, as well as all the editing rights on all media.

The award-winning author or co-authors undertake to sign the publishing contract or contracts and transfer the exploitation rights exclusively to the publisher over the winning work within a maximum period of one month from the awarding of the award.

JURY:

14.- The jury will be made up of professionals from the comics sector freely designated by Editorial Planeta DeAgostini, SA, both in the field of creation, as well as publishing and criticism. The system of qualification, selection and voting of the works presented will be established by Editorial Planeta DeAgostini, SA. The jury's deliberations will be secret. The final ruling will be adopted by a simple majority.

DEADLINES:

15.- The term of admission of the works projects will begin on July 30, 2008 and will end on November 15, 2008. It will be understood that those works that have a date of entry in the Post Office on the 15th of November 2008.

16.- The jury's decision, which will be final, will be announced at the end of January 2009, on the company's website www.planetadeagostinicomics.com (and / or at a public event).

17.- The winning work ready for edition must be delivered in its entirety (interior and cover) by the author or co-authors before July 1, 2009, publishing it before the end of 2009.

18.- The copies of the non-awarded works will not be returned, and may be destroyed at the end of the contest process.

19.- For any doubts that may arise from the interpretation of this document or for any litigation issue arising from it, the parties submit to the jurisdiction and jurisdiction of the Courts and Tribunals of Barcelona, ​​expressly waiving any other jurisdiction that may correspond to them. .
