School Comic Contest

The bases of the comic contest, aimed at young people between 9 and 17 years old and residents of Álava, Burgos, Cantabria, Guadalajara, La Rioja, León, Madrid, Navarra, Salamanca, Toledo, Valladolid and Zaragoza, after the jump.

PARTICIPANTS
Schoolchildren, aged between nine and seventeen, who reside in Álava or in one of the localities, scope of action, of Caja Vital Kutxa (Burgos, Cantabria, Guadalajara, La Rioja, León, Madrid, Navarra, Salamanca, Toledo, Valladolid and Zaragoza).

SECTIONS
Four sections are established:
a) Individual Infant, for individual creative works of schoolchildren between 9 and 13 years old.
b) Individual Youth, for individual creative work for schoolchildren between 14 and 17 years old.
c) Children's Collective (9 - 13 years old). Works presented by groups of students from the same center and course, with a required minimum of 6 comic strips or stories per contestant team.
d) Youth Collective (14 - 17 years old). Works presented by groups of students from the same center and course, with a required minimum of 6 comic strips or stories per contestant team.

DOCUMENTATION
The theme, language, technique and design of the comic will be free. Each story or narration will consist of 1 to 4 pages, which must be presented on cardboard (s), rigid support (s) or digital (jpg format at 300 dpi). The format of the work must be a minimum of A4 and a maximum of A3. It is not necessary to send the original.

In case of being selected, the organization will request the shipment of the same that will be returned to its owner once the exhibition of the same is finished.

The comics must be titled but not named. A sealed envelope will be attached with the personal data of the author (name and surname, age, address, telephone number, school center and grade), as well as group in the case of groups.

The deadline for admission of works will end on December 15, 2008. They will be sent to the KREA Expresión Contemporánea headquarters, Calle Postas, 17 01004 Vitoria-Gasteiz, either directly or sent by post. Works can also be sent through the e-mail info@kreared.com | www.kreared.com

PORTICO SPORT AWARDS
The Contest is endowed with the following prizes:

a) Children's individual section:
1st - KREA kit and plate
2st - KREA kit and plate
3st - KREA kit and plate

b) Youth individual section:
1st - 300 euros and plaque
2st - 210 euros and plaque
3st - 150 euros and plaque

c) Children's collective section:
1st - KREA kit, plate and set of comics valued at 300 euros.
2st - KREA kit, plate and set of comics valued at 300 euros.
3st - KREA kit, plate and set of comics valued at 300 euros.

d) Youth collective section:
1st - 300 euros, plaque and batch of comics valued at 300 euros.
2st - 210 euros, plaque and batch of comics valued at 300 euros.
3st - 150 euros, plaque and batch of comics valued at 300 euros.

Special Prize for the best Alava collective comic:
A special award is established for the best Alava collective comic in each section, consisting of a 'Cultural Day through Álava' trip for 25 students and educator valued at 900 euros.

The winning comics will become the property of Caja Vital Kutxa.

JURY
The jury will be appointed by KREA Contemporary Expression, its decision being final. You can increase the number of awards, due to their artistic quality and creative innovation, or leave one of them deserted.

DIFFUSION
The winning works will be published on www.kreared.com and collected in a compilation volume. For the dissemination of these works, KREA may use the complete image or a detail of said works to illustrate the cover of the catalog, brochures and posters, or other elements of dissemination of the exhibition.

KREA will produce an exhibition with the works of the selected artists in spring 2009. The awards ceremony will take place at said exhibition, on a date and time to be announced in due course.

Likewise, KREA may organize itinerant exhibitions of the same by educational centers and specialized rooms during the period of nine months following the resolution of the call, for which the awarded and selected works will remain on deposit in KREA during this period of time. .

ACCEPTANCE
The fact of participating in this contest presupposes the total acceptance of these rules, as well as the decisions of the jury.

Legal
It is reported that the personal data submitted by the participants in this contest will be incorporated into an automated file owned by the Fundación Caja de Ahorros de Vitoria y Álava, with registered office in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Paseo de la Biosfera 6. The holders of the data are informed of the automated processing or not, to which their data will be submitted, and authorize its use, for the purpose of sending information related to the activity of KREA Expresión Contemporánea / Fundación Caja de Ahorros de Vitoria y Álava, including by electronic means . Likewise and with the same purpose, they authorize their transfer to the Savings Bank of Vitoria and Álava, which is also empowered to do so. The authorization will be understood to be granted unless the authorization is expressly confirmed or, where appropriate, revocation of the authorization granted.
