Libros.com announces the II Comic and Graphic Novel Contest

The publisher Books.com, which bases its production on the now largely unknown microfinance system, or through crowdfunding, has announced these days the second edition of the Comic and Graphic Novel Contest (This separation between both terms would give for a long debate) «Sinuous Line«. Last year the winning work was Nyx, the goddess dreams, Fernando Llor y Rene Valinas (The image that adorns this entry is part of the comic). The complete bases below:

The publishing house Libros.com announces the II Edition of the Comic Contest and Graphic Novel "Sinuosa Line" according to the following BASES:

1 Participation

All those people over 18 years of Spanish nationality can participate. Participation is admitted individually or collectively.

2. Content

– The theme will be free, with the only condition that the works must be of their own creation and unpublished

- The language allowed for the works will be only Spanish

- The Author (or authors) must be the legitimate owner of all the necessary rights over the Work, guaranteeing Libros.com the peaceful exploitation of the contest, keeping it harmless from any damage that may arise from possible actions, claims or conflicts raised by third parties

3. Presentation format of the work

The format of the work will be 135x190mm (10mm margin included), in B / W or grayscale, with a minimum of 50 pages and a maximum of 100 pages in length.

4. Dynamics of the contest

The contest is divided into 2 phases:

1st Phase: from February 7 to February 28, 2014

- Participants will send a reduced story as a test that must have an extension of between 1 and 4 pages, in the format indicated in point 3.
- A jury made up of personalities related to the world of comics and the publishing sector will choose 3 works that will go on to the final phase.

2nd Phase: from March 10 to April 10, 2014

- The 3 chosen works will start a collective financing process through the Libros.com platform.
– The works will have to collect at least 75 supports for the contestant to qualify for the prizes mentioned in point 5. (*)
- The work that gets the most support will be eligible for the highest ranking prize.
- Once the crowdfunding campaign is finished, the authors agree to send the complete work to Libros.com (maximum 100 pages in length) within a period of no more than 90 days

(*) During the crowdfunding campaign Libros.com will be in charge of disseminating the works with the aim of facilitating the achievement of support

5 Awards

1st Prize: € 500 + publication of the work + presentation in bookstores.
2nd Prize: € 200 + publication of the work + distribution in bookstores.
3rd Prize: publication of the work + distribution in bookstores.

The works that successfully complete the crowdfunding campaign will be published by Libros.com, which will be responsible for the production and edition, and the creators will sign a contract for a duration of 2 years, renewable and with a 10% royalty percentage. . The awarding of the award implies that Libros.com will exclusively manage all the exploitation rights of the work, in all countries and for all languages, as well as all publishing rights in all media.

6. Jury

- Vicente Damián, author of 'El cauterizador'. (Second prize I edition of the contest)

7. Shipping

The samples corresponding to Phase 1 can be sent to the email address comics@libros.com from February 7 to February 28, 2014.
