Who is Blue Jeans?
Blue Jeans, pseudonym of its original name, Francisco de Paula Fernandez Gonzalez, He was born in 1976 in Seville, specifically on November 7. During his childhood, he grew up in Carmona and studied at the Salesians. His career went through law school, however, not convincing him, he decided to move to Madrid to start a career in Journalism, specializing in sports journalism at the European University.
From the moment he graduated, he began to work in different media, especially those related to sports. However, he failed to stand out with his pen. In addition, he made his work compatible as coach of children's futsal teams at Palestra Atenea.
Something that not many know is that the first novel of Blue Jeans is not the one that is best known, Songs for Paula; but one based on his favorite author, Agatha Christie. This mystery novel was rejected by several publishers and so far has not seen the light.
But he was not discouraged, instead, with his work as a coach, he focused on the youth gender, combining social networks, romance and the Internet.
With his nickname Blue Jeans, which he took from a song by the Sqeezer group (a German dance pop group), began to publish the chapters of Songs for Paula on the Internet. The repercussion that it generated caused the Everest publishing house to contact him and publish it. After the resounding success that it supposed, Blue Jeans published two more books that gave the finishing touch to the trilogy, You know I love you and Shut me up with a kiss.
His career was beginning to take off and the Planeta publishing house took notice of him, releasing his next series, El club de los Incomprendidos. In fact, there is a film adaptation of this series that premiered in 2014 in Spain, with great success.
In terms of awards, Blue Jeans has received several. The first one he received was the Rosa 2012 Award for Best JR Novel from RomanTica's 2011 magazine. Then came the Tree of Life Award in 2013; the 2013 Cervantes Chico Award (city of Alcalá de Henares); 2014 Rosa Award for Best National JR Romance 2013 from RomanTica's magazine; the 2014 Off The Record Award for Best Youth Saga (from RomanTica's magazine; 2015 Seville Book Fair Recognition Award; and The Hall of Stars 2018 Award for Book of the Year.
The characteristics of the pen in the Blue Jeans books
Clearly Blue Jeans has known how to adapt to the new times and has managed to hook teenagers into its books, a fairly demanding audience and you hardly read. But there are certain characteristics that stand out from his pen, and that are what responds to why he is one of the most widely read juvenile writers in Spain (and outside the country).
Considered by many to be Federico Moccia of Spain, his books are characterized by:
Deal with conflictive issues of adolescents
In this way, through a novel he is able to address an issue that may be important to them without making them feel like they are being psychoanalyzed or that they are empty words to them. On the contrary, the author is able to empathize with the reader in such a way that he realizes the problem objectively and then reflects on its reality.
Use XNUMXst century resources
Mobile phones, the Internet and the connection with the tastes of adolescents allows you to create modern stories in which all readers identify with the plot and the situations are more realistic, from day to day.
A very simple language focused on young people
Blue Jeans is connected with teenagers and that allows him write in a language that young people understand. Simple, easy, and with terms that teenagers use on a regular basis. Therefore, allow them to be drawn to the stories.
A romance within a story of more genres
Because although it deals with issues related to adolescents, we must not forget that the main thing about Blue Jeans novels are actually romance genre, so this is the one that governs throughout history. However, this does not detract from your sales success.
Apart from romanticism, you can also find a series of values such as friendship, empathy, etc. that allow to analyze the books in a more practical way for parents.
