BLAS RUIZ GRAU - INTERVIEW

  • ACTUALIDAD LITERATURA: Do you remember the first book you read? And the first story you wrote?

BLAS RUIZ GRAU: About the first book I doubt if it was one of the Trotamusicians or Asterix and Obelix. In any case, as a child I enjoyed reading comics and every week I bought some.

  • AL: What was that book that impacted you and why?

BRG: I was really shocked The last cat. I think it was the first time that I connected so much with a (one in this case) main character. I thought that was the key to making a reading mark you.

  • AL: A favorite writer or writers? You can choose from all eras.

BRG: Right now it has me crazy Michael Santiago. I don't think anyone does it like him.

  • AL: What is the common point or characteristic of all your novels and how do you think you have evolved since that first title that you self-published?

BRG: I think I have achieved what I said above, that readers connect with my characters and feel and live what they. I also take much more care of the texts and do not jump headfirst into what comes out. I'm still chaotic, but my head is racing while I am.

  • AL: What character in a book would you have liked to meet and create?

BRG: To the inspector Amaia salazarby Dolores Redondo.

  • AL: Any mania when it comes to writing or reading?

BRG: All silence which can.

  • AL: And your preferred place and time to do it?

BRG: Now it is when they leave me.

  • AL: More literary genres that you like?

BRG: I really like the historical novel.

  • AL: What are you reading now? And writing?

BRG: Both, of course. It is a bad moment in general due to the unprecedented situation that we are going through, but we writers have to recognize that, in the workplace, we cannot complain because much more is being read now.

  • AL: How do you think the publishing scene is for as many authors as there are or want to publish?

BRG: Frankly wrong. I do not want to say that there is saturation, that never, but it is true that there are almost more writers than readers. Above all, in the sense that many only want to read their reference authors and find it difficult to open up to others they do not know. That frustrates that beginning writer a lot (I know, because I've been through it too).

  • AL: Is the moment of crisis that we are experiencing being difficult for you or will you be able to keep something positive for future novels?

BRG: It's being as difficult for me as it is for anyone. Psychologically this is bullshit, no more. At work I cannot complain because I have tripled my work. Yes indeed, in my novels you will never see anything that has to do with the coronavirus Nor nothing alike. I don't feel like even talking about this in a book.
