Anne Shirley

She is the undisputed protagonist, not only of Ana de las Tejas Verdes, but of all the sequels that there were. The author characterized her as a intelligent, outgoing, crazy and dreamy orphan, but with a very good heart. And with a single wish: to be part of a family and to be able to study.

Matthew cuthbert

He is Marilla's younger brother, those who want to adopt a boy and are surprised that a girl arrives. They run the farm that they inherited from the family and he is a shy, calm and very kind person.

If you think that Ana de las Tejas Verdes is a unique book, you are wrong. In fact, there are a total of eight books, but only six of them feature "Ana" herself. We talk about all of them:

  • Ana from Tejas Verdes. Published in 1908 and the one that started the whole series of novels. In it, he introduces us to a girl and an age period ranging from 11 to 16 years old.
  • Ana from Avonlea. It was published a year later, in 1909, and follows Ana's life, but in this case since she left it in the previous book, when she was 16 years old, and until she was 18.
  • Ana, la de la Isla. Published in 1915 (6 years after the previous one), and recounting Ana's life from 18 to 22 years old.
  • Ana from Álamos Ventosos. He came out in 1916, and explained what Ana's life was like from 22 to 25 years old.
  • Ana and the House of her Dreams. Published in 1917. In this case, Ana's age range was 25 to 27 years old.
  • Ana from Ingleside. Published in 1919, and the last of the novels starring Ana, who will tell her life from 34 to 40 years old.
  • The Rainbow Valley. It saw the light in 1919 and, although you can know something about Ana (from the age of 41 to 49), the truth is that it focuses more on her children.
  • Rilla from Ingleside. The last of the books, published in 1921. In this case, Ana goes from 49 to 53 years old but, as with the previous one, it is the children who take center stage.

About Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author

Lucy Maud Montgomery Also known as Lucy Montgomery or as LM Montgomery, she was a Canadian writer who lived between 1874 and 1942. At that time, her greatest success, and for which she is still remembered, is for the series of novels Ana de las Tejas Verdes .

Lucy was born in what is now known as New London, on Prince Edward Island. When I was 21 months old, the mother died due to tuberculosis while his father left there settling in the west. Lucy was then in charge of the grandparents in Cavendish, where she was brought up very strictly.

At the age of 15-16, she was sent to Saskatchewan to live with her father and stepmother, but she barely lasted a year with them before she was returned to her grandparents. It was then that, after finishing his education, he began studying in Charlottetown at Prince of Wales College. In fact, it was so good that a two-year course he did it in one, and got his certificate, to go on to study literature in Nova Scotia (Dalhousie University).

She worked for some time as a teacher in different schools, until she had to return to Cavendish to live with her widowed grandmother. In 1901 and 1902 he was in Halifax and worked for the Chronicle and Echo newspapers.

Anne of Green Gables is a creation inspired by her life on Prince Edward Island. In fact, he began to write it and in 1908 he managed to publish it.

In 1911 her grandmother passed away and she met her future husband, Ewan McDonald, whom she married and moved to Ontario. He served as minister of the Presbyterian Church of San Pablo and they had three children. The following Lucy Montgomery books were written at this location.
