A bookcrossing experience to celebrate Book Day

Bookcrossing

April is a great month for lovers of literature and books since tomorrow April 23, International Book Day, is the kick-off for the fairs and 'bookseller' events.

To celebrate this day, 55 museum libraries and art and culture centers will flood cities throughout Spain with the release of more than 2.000 books through an experience of Bookcrossing.

Yes, dear readers, fifty of our cultural institutions will release about 2.000 copies related to different disciplines, mainly related to art and humanities.

For the seventh consecutive year this experience of Bookcrossing o book release campaign with the intention of flooding the cities with volumes from the bag of duplicates of the libraries of museums and cultural centers.

The participating institutions have planned to put into circulation more than two thousand free books with the intention that those who collect them, enjoy reading them and release them again in another part of the world.

All the released books will be credited with their corresponding labels, will contain the necessary instructions to facilitate the reader's participation in the campaign and will be registered on the web bookcrossing.com, where readers will be able to indicate the place where they will release each issue.

The objective of this initiative is to join museum libraries in the effort to promote reading and, more specifically, in the dissemination of knowledge of the different cultural disciplines.

Participating institutions

The word duplicate is well known to librarians. Normally duplicate works come from donations from other institutions, publishers, users, etc. and what is usually done with them is to offer them to other public institutions.

However, the following institutions have chosen to circulate their bags of duplicates among citizens, an initiative that we hope will last a long time.
